A throwback to October's trip to London for the #trendwatching seminar at The Barbican.
Loved getting to discuss the future trends, and have everything we'd been seeing (and saying) the past year be confirmed in the trends presented.
Some of my favourite takeaways:
🌲The continued craving of 'Awe'.
Referencing specifically the power of outdoor experiences and adventures, people want to feel awe-inspired. Brands are getting clever with what they've got to promote this sensation, from Visit Sweden promoting their forest with geo-locked spooky stories, to brands reinventing indoor spaces to evoke awe (and brand interest) in Urban areas. The perfect trend to match the Barbican greenery.
📚The rise of knowledge economy.
What you know is more important that what you own. Audiences want to learn about their interests, and we see more and more brands (particularly in luxury) playing into this. #Gucci have just announced their Cosmos exhibition in London. Anyone fancy another trip?
🌟 Excited to announce my participation at Xenia 2023 in Athens! 🇬🇷
I'm thrilled to share that I'll be joining the incredible lineup of professionals and industry leaders at Xenia, one of the most prestigious hospitality exhibitions in Europe, taking place in the vibrant city of Athens together with my colleague Erica Delfino
I'm looking forward to connecting with fellow experts, exploring innovative trends, and discovering cutting-edge solutions shaping the future of the hospitality industry.
If you're attending, I'd love to connect and discuss what Duetto can do for your hotel.
Feel free to reach out to schedule a meeting - I'll be attending Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November.
See you in Athens!

Germany: A Polycentric market with a unique selling point
Decision makers from the real estate industry discussed the rise of the German hotel industry and the prospects for investors 📈
They all agreed that the German hotel market showed above-average resilience and stability during the coronavirus crisis.
In addition, the German hotel market is more diverse than other European countries such as France.
The steady increase in the number of overnight stays is leading to rising prices in the hotel industry, while the diversity of locations offers untapped potential for operators in particular. As a result, European investors in particular are more optimistic about the hotel sector than German investors.
The outlook for inbound travel to Germany is very positive, with increasing numbers of travelers from emerging markets such as India and China. Also Air India has recently introduced several new direct flights to Frankfurt, reflecting this growth ✈

CEO & Founder at The Well-being Company & Multi-award winning business Pilates Class UK | Great British Purpose and Start up Entrepreneur of the year Finalist 2023 and 2024
Transitioning to zero percent options has been a key performance indicator (KPI) in my journey within the wellness events industry and a key success factor in my own wellness journey.
It's essential to inspire companies, particularly those in hotels and events teams, to embrace this shift.
It's disheartening to be excluded from events or hotel receptions simply because non-drinkers aren't catered to, I know this because it has happened to me hundreds of times.
As the UK experiences a significant rise in wellness-focused clientele, it's imperative to integrate wellness into every department and guest journey.
inclusivity and wellness should be at the forefront of hospitality practices for sure.
Déborah Gobinet is a great connection for anyone in my network within hospitality that would like to explore this option.

Director of Spa & Wellbeing (pre-opening) at Guerlain Spa at Raffles London Hotel at The OWO | 18 yrs in Wellness
Champagne is almost synonymous with luxury spas and many people experience the spa for the pampering and the social aspects. At our Guerlain Spa at Raffles London at The OWO we offer a glass of Champagne and a fruit platter at the end of our Royal Spa Suite Journey. However, we have noticed that around 1 in 5 guests opt for our French Bloom Le Blanc organic alcohol-free sparkling wine instead. Great article on this trend by Mark Smith in European Spa Magazine.

Giampiero Schiavo, CEO of Castello SGR, recently spoke with Ludwig Menke, Director of Global Production RE Europe at GRI Club, in Milan during Italia GRI 2024 to discuss Italy’s evolving hospitality sector, including growing investor interest and a market that is ripe for repositioning assets amid value add opportunities.
🔹 Despite Italy's low market penetration of hospitality brands, there is considerable potential for growth, especially in luxury destinations such as Venice, Rome, Florence, Capri, Cortina, and Portofino, says Giampiero, before adding that there are also significant opportunities to develop new regions, citing the growth of Puglia as an example.
However, Giampiero noted that urban regeneration presents further challenges due to complex urban planning regulations and varying levels of municipal support, making it easier in primary cities but more difficult in secondary locations, where the competence of local asset managers becomes crucial.
