🎂 32 YEARS AGO TODAY I was born in Botswana Africa to a Nigerian mum & English dad! Today, I wrote down 32 lessons I’ve learned in those 32 years:
1. Failure is feedback, feedback is knowledge and knowledge is power. Increase your failure rate.
2. Your legacy is what you leave in people, not what you leave for them.
3. Your identity often causes suffering. Avoid defining yourself too rigidly.
4. Today’s pain usually becomes tomorrow’s greatest gift.
5. Success can’t be measured by numbers.
6. Believe the future will be better, and it probably will be.
7. Acceptance ends suffering, resistance prolongs it; get to acceptance as fast as you can.
8. Never assume someone is a bad person just because you disagree.
9. Our priorities are not what we say, our priorities are what we do. To understand someone’s priorities look at their calender.
10. The people you work with will usually matter more than pay; do not work with arseholes.
11. Sweat the small stuff; the devil and god are in the detail.
12. The quality of life is mainly determined by the quality of your relationships.
13. If you think happiness is in the future, it always will be.
14. A good night’s sleep is the ultimate productivity hack.
15. Choosing the right life partner is the most important decision you will make.
16. The true reward lies in the pursuit, not the podium.
17. Your own mindset will be your greatest asset or obstacle.
18. The conversation you’re avoiding is the one you need most.
19. True confidence comes from keeping commitments to yourself.
20. Don’t throw stones at other people, pick them up and build yourself a castle.
21. Don’t let pointless arguments kill good relationships.
22. Gratitude isn’t automatic; you must practice it. The more memories you create, the longer your life will feel.
23. Assume this might be their last day - If you love them, tell them every day without hesitation.
24. If it won’t matter on your deathbed, it doesn’t truly matter right now.
25. You can’t pour from an empty cup; prioritise taking care of yourself.
26. Deep relationships are built on shared vulnerabilities.
27. The answer to most of your challenges is “delay gratification and be consistent”.
28. The best way to show someone you love or respect them is to give them your undivided attention.
29. The greatest price you will have to pay to reach your potential will be your comfort.
30. Realising that you’re going to die someday is the best antidote for pettiness and the anxiety it creates.
31. Most people are living inside a dream they once had and they don’t even notice it because they’re too busy dreaming of something else. Celebrate the small wins, gratitude is medicine.
32. The stories you tell yourself can trap or free you.
