In today’s evolving landscape of #corporatecitizenship and #philanthropy, one challenge consistently stands out: the complexity of measuring and reporting social impact. There is a real need for improvement in this area: only 40% of surveyed corporate citizenship executives are satisfied with their reporting, and 81% expect it to become more challenging in the future. And unlike #esg and #sustainability efforts, corporate citizenship initiatives are not subject to disclosure regulation or standardized metrics. A new report I've authored for The The Conference Board (and supported by E4E Relief and True Impact) engages head-on with this issue. Based on a series of Chatham House Rule roundtables in 2023, plus extensive additional research, this report captures the current state and future direction of measurement and reporting for corporate citizenship. #csr #impactmeasurement #socialimpact #esgreporting

Empower Employees: Employees are a company's greatest asset in driving corporate citizenship. Empowering employees to contribute their skills, time, and resources to meaningful causes not only benefits communities but also enhances employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. This can be achieved through volunteer programs, skills-based pro bono initiatives, and diversity and inclusion efforts. 5. Support Community Development: Investing in the communities where companies operate is fundamental to corporate citizenship. This can take various forms, such as philanthropy, community development projects, employee volunteering, and partnerships with local organizations. #Latepost Celebrating International Diversity Day: Embracing #Diversity Through Life’s Tapestry! 🎉 In the mosaic of life, each piece is shaped by diverse experiences that give us a new perspective. Recently, I found myself navigating through an emergency in my personal life. This moment, heavy with worry and responsibility, was also a profound teacher. It reminded me that diversity is not just about the external world; it’s also about the varied situations we encounter in our personal lives. Managing family needs while balancing work commitments during this time was a testament to the human spirit’s resilience. It was a reminder that our diverse experiences—be they joyous, challenging, or mundane—are what mold us. They teach us to adapt, to empathize, and to view life through a kaleidoscope of lenses. As I navigated the complexities of my personal life, with my father’s health in the balance and the weight of family responsibilities on my shoulders that was managed by my spouse, I was enveloped in a wave of support from my family, colleagues, leaders and an organization like Amdocs. This outpouring of understanding and flexibility is a testament to the power of diversity in action. It’s one thing to speak of diversity as a concept; it’s another to live it through acts of #compassion and #support. My leaders didn’t just acknowledge my situation; they stood by me, offering the time and space needed to focus on my family without the fear of professional repercussions. This is diversity beyond demographics—it’s about diverse experiences and the acknowledgment that sometimes, life takes precedence. The organization’s culture, built on the pillars of empathy and inclusion, shone brightly as they accommodated my needs. It’s in these moments that the true colors of diversity are revealed—not just in celebrations, but in the quiet understanding that we all have unique life stories that may call for support and flexibility. This International Diversity Day, let’s recognize that diversity is not only found in our workplaces or social circles but also in the unexpected twists of our personal narratives. It’s these experiences that enrich our understanding, allowing us to appreciate the full spectrum of life with all its shades and colors. So, as we continue to advocate for diversity in all its forms, let’s also acknowledge the personal journeys that shape our views. [SOUTHWEST LAUNCHES TWO CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP REPORTS] "At Southwest Airlines... our work toward being a good global citizen is driven by our desire to positively impact the topics that are most relevant to our Employees, Investors, Customers, Communities, and Stakeholders. And through all of our work, we’ve always been passionate about making a difference in our communities and respecting our resources," shared Katie Coldwell, Managing Director Corporate Citizenship, and Juan Suarez, VP of DE&I, in an article highlighting the two releases.   "We approach corporate citizenship strategically and holistically, and sharing our citizenship story is a huge part of that work. I took some time today to study the Corporate Citizenship report published by WideSense. I won’t summarize the 60 pages for you; however, here are some of my takeaways: 👉 By definition, corporate citizenship is voluntary and for the primary benefit of the environment and society. In addition to added value for society, good corporate citizenship has a positive impact attracting and motivating employees (69%), followed by reputation building (38%) and the achievement of strategic sustainability goals (35%). 👉 The evidence of employees’ desire for meaning and purpose is sufficiently great for companies to make the necessary changes in the company’s day-to-day activities and fully supported by the Executive Board. 👉 The third-most important driver for good corporate citizenship is the achievement of strategic corporate goals. In some cases, corporate citizenship projects (e.g. in the areas of plastic recycling and climate protection) contribute directly to the corresponding CO2 or 💦 plastic reduction targets of the companies. Other activities include social projects along the supply chain (research into carbon-neutral flying) or develop a sustainable business model (research for the engine manufacturer). 👉 Corporate citizenship moves closer to the core business as a result of the social pressure. Corporate Citizenship departments work primarily with HR (62%) and Marketing (54%), with sustainability 🌲 being on the last place with only 12%. For example, Corporate citizenship reps work together with their respective HR teams on employer branding, attractive corporate volunteering programmes, and the development of a positive leadership culture.
