Dance schools play a vital role for families and communities and provide an important talent pipeline for Australia's professional dance sector. So what can dance school enrolments tell us about the future of dance? How diverse are students enrolled in Australian dance schools, and what motivates and impedes students from participating? How can we increase accessibility and diversity in dance? In order to take steps to find out The Australian Ballet and The Australian Ballet School commissioned Patternmakers to conduct research into participation pathways for ballet in Australia. The goal was to understand how the pandemic had affected enrolments, and the level of diversity in the talent pipeline for professional dance. We are grateful to the many stakeholders, including dance teachers, studio owners, students and parents of students, who participated in this research. The research offers invaluable insight into the role we all play in fostering participation in dance. It highlighted how we can strengthen our contribution and generated many ideas that we are now exploring. We invite you to download and share the Fact Sheet to view statistics around enrolment, diversity of participation, and areas of opportunity within the dance sector. Download the Fact Sheet: Participation Pathways for Australian Dancers here: bit.ly/3Suidac We hope this will be a valuable contribution to sector conversations on improving participation pathways and increasing diversity in dance. #Dance #Ballet

Assessment nerd. Data enthusiast. Visual Thinker. Qualified UX designer. Chair of Governors Pirton Hill Primary School.
Practice alone doesn't make perfect. Targeted and timely feedback is crucial. Picture this: A struggling young ballet dancer. The instructor makes a few adjustments. The result? A perfectly executed routine. Without feedback, she might: 😖 Get frustrated and give up prematurely 🤕 Risk injury 🤷♀️ Misunderstand her skill level Practice without effective feedback can embed bad habits or techniques that need to be unlearned. (Just ask my husband, who learned driving in Nigeria then took a UK test!) Practice sets you on the path to mastery, but it's a perilous road. Good feedback, alongside practice, gets you there quicker and safer. The YouTube algorithm thinks I need ballet videos. It might be onto something. Shout-out to Pejman Milani for the visual inspiration and Anastasia Galichanina, CPA, CMPS®🏠 for her feedback in the making of this visual.

Dance injuries associated with pointe work are highly prevalent within the dance community, particularly in a pubescent population where learned motor patterns may be in a period of re-acquisition with a rapidly growing and changing body. Pre-pointe assessments are used to determine whether a ballet dancer is safe to progress to dancing en pointe. This transition will usually occur around 12 years of age. Previously, chronological age, years of dance training, and ankle plantar flexion range of movement was the only indicator of readiness, but studies suggest that a combination of functional testing and other contextual factors is more useful to gauge safe and successful performance. Protocols worldwide have not yet been standardised, but in relevant studies, attempts have been made to identify musculoskeletal variables between pre-pointe and novice pointe students to ascertain readiness. To book in with Erin Pregarc call ☎️ 83425593 for an assessment.

Folks ask, "So, Jennifer, what do you do for work?" My response, "How much time do you have?" 😂 In a nut shell, I teach everything I did for my performance career: - Personal Trainer 💪 - Nutrition Coach 🍎 - Piano Lessons 🎹 - Voice Lessons (speaking & singing) - Acting Lessons 🎭 - Ballet Lessons 💃 🕺 Yes, I'm accepting new clients/students. We can meet 1 or 2 or 3 times per week. It totally depends on your goals. Am I truly an expert at all of these disciplines and teaching them too? Yes. I have over 10,000 hours in each area as a performer over 10,000 hours in each area as a teacher. But more importantly, we have FUN! 🎈 b/c without that, learning is abysmal. 😊 https://lnkd.in/gq4a2x5R
