Top U.S. Keynote Speaker | 3X Author | Vice Chair - The Lewis Family Of Businesses (Current Portfolio - 9 Mission Based Companies) | I Partner With Hospitals To Enhance The Behavioral Health Workforce.
As a mental health advocate, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of unspoken struggles—especially in the Black community. Today, I’m breaking the silence on the intersection of drug overdose and mental health, issues that continue to devastate lives while too often being overlooked. I also want to take a moment to honor the life of Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan, whose passing reminds us of the urgency of these conversations. At The Confess Project Of America Official Page we’ve been fighting to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health and create safe spaces for real, honest dialogue. With drug overdose rates rising, especially in marginalized communities, it’s more critical than ever to address the mental health challenges, systemic barriers, and lack of resources that contribute to these tragedies. Let’s move forward by opening up these conversations and building support systems that foster healing and resilience. Together, we can make sure no one faces these struggles alone. #MentalHealthAdvocate #SubstanceAbuseAwareness #BreakTheStigma #BlackMentalHealth #TheConfessProject #RichHomieQuan

Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) populations face unique systemic challenges when it comes to managing their mental health. July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness month, an opportunity to elevate the unique systemic challenges that Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) populations face when it comes to managing their mental health. Generational and historical trauma and displacement within a cycle of constant systemic racism and oppression are seemingly insurmountable barriers to thriving in life. However, according to Mental Health America, “...culture, community, and connection are pillars that support and uplift BIPOC individuals in the face of oppression and systemic racism.” 💡 Read more stories here! https://lnkd.in/grzzs8_8 This work is supported by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. #NIFAimpacts

June is dedicated to raising awareness of Men's mental health and the unique challenges they face in our society. It's essential to check in on our loved ones, including our brothers, by asking a simple yet powerful question: "My Brother How Are You?" Research from NAMI reveals concerning trends where Black men often feel undervalued, making them less likely to seek mental health support. This lack of outreach, combined with implicit bias, discrimination, racism, and other barriers, hinders their access to care. Sadly, suicide is the third leading cause of death among Black men aged 15-24. By fostering open conversations and safe spaces for support, we can break the stigma and promote mental well-being. Let's advocate for mental health awareness and support for men, especially those in underserved communities. #MensMentalHealth #EndTheStigma #SupportEachOther

Building a better mental health system in Colorado | Cofounder of ColoradoBiz Magazine’s Top Startup of the Year
I never thought that an East Denver rap star would be the tipping point for starting a conversation about black mental health, but @mathiasdagreat is my hero. As a cofounder of Axis Integrated Mental Health, I’ve seen firsthand the power of community in shaping conversations around mental health. But I’ve got to say, the recent response to the interview with MathiasdaGreat—where he candidly talks about Colorado’s #46 ranking for mental health—has been nothing short of inspiring. 🙌 These rap fans, many of whom don’t work in healthcare or sit in boardrooms, have done more to destigmatize mental health in a week than most companies I know of (present company excluded, of course 😉). It just goes to show—everyday heroes can come from anywhere. Whether you’re behind the mic, behind the screen, or reposting powerful stories, you’re making a difference. Social media often gets a bad rap (no pun intended), but when used wisely, it becomes a platform for change. These fans have harnessed it to shift narratives, start conversations, and bring mental health into the light. Their actions remind us that mental health is for everyone—it doesn’t discriminate, and neither should our efforts to create awareness and access to care. To all those who’ve shared, commented, and connected through this movement, thank you for being the change. Special shoutout to @milehighminute @rapyardpodcast @vibesdenver_ @dnvrspotlight @dgb_offtheporch for talking about the thing that no one wants to talk about. 📃 Let's talk about the facts! Within our community, the journey to mental health support often takes a route that is statistically more likely to go through the criminal justice system. It is time for a change rooted in compassion and understanding. By shedding light on this truth, we can collectively work towards creating an environment that offers genuine support, fosters open conversations, and encourages a united front against the challenges faced by the Black and minority ethnic communities. Facing this disheartening fact is the initial step in the journey to breaking down barriers and constructing bridges of understanding and empathy. 👉🏾 The Research: https://bit.ly/3OdqY6h #factoftheday
