Paid Internship: This is a PAID FULL-TIME internship. You'll gain real experience and won’t just be making photocopies. You'll be required to be active from 10 AM to 6:30 PM. A second-year 19 year old student, eager to enlighten herself with the bright rays of the outside world, it was today's date back in 2023 when I joined White Rivers Media- my first ever workplace experience! It wasn't like I hadn't work before, but it was all beneath the chambers of COVID-19 and it's online alternatives. In real, it's different. Much different. Never had the moment to write about it then, so I'll make the most out of it, now. An agency culture was much distinct than the conventional work life my parents have been describing and that is exactly when I realised our worlds are different and that I have so much more to look forward to, so much more to achieve. It shouted YOUTH! OPPORTUNITY! and THE FUTURE! I joined as a Copywriter Intern and it completely altered my beginner definitions of copywriting. Throughout the course of time, my comprehension about agency structure and client behaviour was significantly enriched. I got a chance to meet amazing people who not only inspired me but were also super keen to aid with my growth in the long run. Well, ofcourse, not all of it was dreamy. I remember working as long as 10-11 hours fidgeting over a little copy. Spending hours, and even a day or two with a huge creative block shadowing a mere brief. However, that didn't make me despise it. Instead, it only made me fall in love with it more. Let’s rewind 4 years back. Cue: the pandemic, everyone shut inside their homes and nothing but a screen to look at. I came across LinkedIn while I was trying to find a remote internship that could fill up all the free time and a pretty empty CV. Thanks to some great videos on LinkedIn that suggested posting would be a great way to get more eyes to my internship applications, I started creating content. But I had no idea what was waiting for me on the other end (in the best possible way). Back then, writing content EVERYDAY on LinkedIn became a new fav pass time—still stands to be. I started making friends, started a freelance writing business working with leading brands across the world, got invited to speaker sessions and so much more that it opened a new world in front of me that I had no idea existed. A whole lot of posts—some wins, some failures, some stories, some learnings, some videos and carousels, even online challenges later - I hit a follower milestone. But what LinkedIn did was beyond the network and validation it brought me. It GAVE me a kickstart into content marketing that I grew to love, a platform to build a business at the age of 21 that allowed me to pursue a masters in the UK, self-sponsored, pivoting into product marketing and presently, leading me to a life I’d only dreamed of. And it all started HERE. Thank you LinkedIn for being an incredible constant and awarding me the Top Voice. Could’ve never imagined a platform could literally change my life and connect me with the most amazing people across the world.
