Our founder and fearless Latina Leader Yohana I. Quiróz, Ed.D. wrote a piece about our work at Unidos for ECE and the importance of "Empowering Latino Leadership in ECE: A Vision for Change" California stands as a beacon of innovation and diversity, with Latinos poised to represent 45% of the population by 2060. However, a critical gap persists: while 46% of the ECE workforce is Latinas, only 12% hold leadership roles in the field. At Unidos for ECE, we stand as the pioneering organization founded and led by Latinas, committed exclusively to forging paths of leadership for fellow Latinas in the realm of early care and education. Our focus is clear: to bridge this leadership gap and unapologetically support Latinas in early care and education. As pioneers in this movement, we're committed to forging pathways of leadership exclusively for Latinas, both within and beyond the ECE sphere. We aim not just to empower but to elevate the Latino community, ensuring their amplified influence and substantial representation and contributions to championing the well-being of all children, but particularly Latino children and families. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by Latina leaders, we delve into intersectionality in leadership, addressing factors such as race, gender, and socio-economic background to foster inclusive leadership reflective of the diverse communities we serve. At the heart of our strategy is our catalyst program-- ELLA-ES, our initiative to build a robust culturally and linguistically responsive and sustaining Latina leadership pipeline. We advocate for intentional efforts to identify, mentor, train and support emergent Latina leaders. Collaboration with philanthropy and organizations, both within and outside the education sector, is pivotal to strengthening this pipeline. Measuring success is not just a goal but a commitment. We define key performance indicators and success metrics for developing Latina leadership in ECE, and Unidos for ECE is unwavering in its dedication to tracking and evaluating the impact of its initiatives. Join us in this transformative journey! Unidos, podemos! #Latinaleaders #ECE #UnidosforECE www.unidosforece.org

CEO, LSM Consulting, Regulatory Training & Documentation Expert & Strategist, Co-Founder of ARTE & Soul, executive coaching and leadership development
This is why it's so critical that coaching for Black leaders includes not only what supports the leaders, but also that training is given to the receiving organization. Coleman refers to the prison bars above the glass ceiling that Black women leaders face, and the only way to eradicate them is for the organization itself to also change. #blackcoachesforblackleaders #inclusionmatters #arteandsoul
Good piece on Black women's leadership in the academy by my Harvard University classmate Zaire Dinzey-Flores "For the few Black women academics who find their way to leadership positions — inevitably by demonstrating talent, skill, qualification, impact and vocation — success is hard-fought. Academic leadership remains largely white and inhospitable to Black women" https://lnkd.in/eaqE-fEk

Higher Education Consultant | Speaker | Licensed clinical psychologist who helps higher ed professionals enhance student, team and individual well-being, and reduce burnout and attrition through training and development
Are you one of the few—if not the only—Black woman in your college or university’s administration? Do you feel exhausted, if not outright overwhelmed by the challenges of the current higher education environment? Do you yearn for more support, meaningful mentorship, or professional development, but because Black women are underrepresented in your administration, you don’t have someone who shares your experiences, or whose career path you can emulate to turn to for growth opportunities? If you said YES to any of these questions, then you could be a good fit for Shield.ed, the leadership institute for Black women in higher education that I started with my colleague, Yohlunda Mosley. My unique partnership with Yohlunda combines our insights into institutional structures, leadership dynamics, and systemic challenges as well as our nuanced understanding of the emotional and mental well-being of Black women. We aim to create innovative solutions that address both the external barriers and the internal struggles faced by Black women in higher education. Through a comprehensive approach that integrates professional development and counseling, with mental health development infused into every aspect of programming, Yohlunda and I strive to cultivate an environment that uplifts Black women and ensures their success without compromising their well-being. If you’re a Black woman struggling to find your footing in higher education and Shield.ed sounds like it could provide relief and support, I hope you will reach out to me. I can share more of my experience, and what the leadership institute can offer you. Discover more information about Shield.ed in the comment section. #blackwomeninhighered #blackwomenineducation

“There is no future without YOUth!” To be part of an organization that is intentional about youth empowerment is a blessing. Thank you to the team that put this all together. It had me reflecting on my own journey and how I have moved from being a graduate to being a lead for one of the most crucial pillars in the business. Being bold enough to envision a role that was futuristic & a first in our market not only speaks to my own character but that of our leaders. Grant Oliver, thank you for believing & seeing value that this young black girl could add to the team. A lot of nuggets were shared by the panelist’s, here are some of my key takeaways: 1. “ You will never be able to develop a personal brand if you’re invisible!” Lean into the room & be part of the conversation! Never leave a room with a question in your head unanswered. - Zumi Njongwe 2. “Count to 3 & do it scared anyway!” - Boipelo Molema 3. “Show up as your authentic self.” - Jonathan Sidi I am fuelled to reacess the value that I add to our various team but also to drive my development aside from just functional growth. #youthempowerment #futureleaders #all4YOUth
