Dear BMW & THACO Group, We are golfers who participated in this BMW 2023 golf tournament last weeks. The preparation and organization of BMW & Thaco for the tournament are very good and professional. However, we think there is cheating & fraud in selecting winners to award the prizes. According to information discussed among us, golfers who participated in the tournament in recent days, it seems that Golfer Nguyen Quoc Tinh & golfer Tran Huong Ha are not qualified to participate in the tournament & then win the prize. In detail: - Golfer Tran Huong Ha does not actually own a BMW. She borrows BMW car information from a friend, (this friend is not her family member). The BMW car she used to register is property of her friend's company, while she is not even a shareholder or has any position in the company. - Golfer Nguyen Quoc Tinh is not a BMW owner; he has just made a deposit for a BMW car to pretend that he is interested in BMW. You can check this information with the salesman, for sure he will cancel this buying after he won the prize. We understand that this tournament is just a change to connect BMW customers together. But it seems the lacking of transparency and participation of some "false" golfers; but then being awarded has made other golfers and the community of BMW car users very upset & unhappy. There are even some rumors saying that some professional golfers try to make deposit for BMW cars before the tournament; to get the qualification to participate, then somehow, they're arranged to play together in same fly, which may easier to markup their scores and then win the prizes. We think that BMW and Thaco need to review and clarify these rumors to avoid some golfers take advantages from the BMW golf tournaments as well as to avoid affecting BMW's image in the car market. 🏎 After a weekend at Monaco F1 Grand Prix 2024, below some learnings. 👇 "F1 Mini MBA" ✅ Global TV viewership 1.5 billion (2021) ✅F1 2023 revenue increase 25% YoY to US$3.2bn ✅Main income drivers are race promotion fees (US$944.05 million), media rights fees (US$1.04 billion) and sponsorship fees (US$579.96 million). ✅Hosting fees are different from country to country. Monaco pays around 20M€ while other locations might reach 50M€ ✅Fan attendance increases 5 % per cent YoY to six million ✅Social media followers hits 70.5 million in 2023 ✅F1 It employs around 50,000 people across + 30 countries. ✅With 24 races per season (there has been an increase from 17 5 years ago), there is more interest to host more races from cities all around the globe ❓ I find really interesting that circuits (with common interests) are not associated F1 teams main revenue streams: ✅Prize money based on performance in races and the championship standings. The better a team performs, the higher prize money ✅Sponsorships Merchandising sales: T-shirts,etc. ✅Investments from Car Manufacturers: Car manufacturers seees F1 as a powerful marketing tool. Simply put, the key to Monaco’s wealth lies in its tax system. With no income tax, capital gains tax, or real estate tax, the region has become a magnet for the super-rich. Apart from the tax benefits, Monaco’s appealing attributes such as a pleasant climate, central European location, and prestigious events make it a playground for those with extravagant lifestyles. Who resides in Monaco? Many current F1 drivers call Monaco home, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Charles Leclerc, who is not just a resident but also a citizen. The list of residents extends to celebrities from various fields like Bono, Novak Djokovic, and Ringo Starr. What is the cost of living in Monaco? With limited space and an average price of €50,000 per square meter, Monaco boasts some of the world’s most expensive real estate. For visitors attending the race weekend, expenses soar. Corporate motorsports hospitality growth potential in India Both F1 and MotoGP started in Europe, but they are now truly global, and there is a truly global fan base. Originally with a European fan base, this has expanded to the Americas and then Asia, Australasia. Fans from Europe come to Singapore and India, and Asian fans go overseas to popular races. Valencia and Barcelona are popular destinations for MotoGP, for example. F1 in 2023 is held in 22 circuits globally, starting with Bahrain and concluding in Abu Dhabi. MotoGP in 2023 is held in 20 circuits globally, starting with Algarve (Portugal) and concluding in Valencia (Spain). I caught up with my friend from Barcelona Ms Griselda Foguet Plaza who is Hospitality & Experiences Director of Dorna Sports which runs the MotoGP business globally. “It was the first time that we did MotoGP in India. I felt there is a huge and much bigger potential for MotoGP in India. We are of course coming back next year, which will be bigger and better” said Griselda san. MotoGP just held its India debut race just in October 2023. MotoGP India had over 110,000 spectators join in its inaugural year. Corporate motorsports hospitality entertainment is big. Top B to B customers are invited to motorsports events. Entertaining top customers at the F1 is really big. The Paddock Club for VIP entertainment in Singapore costs a whopping 11,000 USD or more for a 3 day pass. Free flowing champagne, food by Michelin star chefs, and more. For MotoGP India it can start from 2,000 Euros for a 2 day pass, but prices are likely set to increase next year. VIP corporate motorsports entertainment at hospitality suites are more and more popular - that wine and dine at the highest levels to ensure better business relationships and deals. For those who are not at the hospitality suites, in other words the majority of spectators, food and drinks can be on the pricey side at the food stalls, but given the fantastic atmosphere of enjoying food and drink at motorsports events, customers are happy to pay that bit extra. F1 may come back to India, and MotoGP will only grow in India, it will be exciting to see motorsports grow in India, and VIP corporate hospitality too. Why It's So Good Not To Win. I competed my first official race as a VETERAN this past weekend. Yes, the race organizers here in Mexico had the audacity to call anyone over the age of 50 a veteran :-) The 5km distance is one of the WORLD RECORD times I am chasing in 2024 for a 60 year old male. I am not officially 60 until next January, but I am using this year to train and to get as close to those records as I possibly can. This race on a windy day in Cancun was the first official hit out against competition, and I was eager to see what I could do. I finished in P8 in the "veteran" category, and because I don't know how many of those in front of me were younger, or way younger than me, I was thrilled with my performance because winning isn't everything. Here's why. In this race I set a PB time. (My third PB over the 5km distance in the past 30 days) I finished in P72 out of a total of 295 runners in the entire race. 90% of those 295 runners were at least 10 years younger than me. By not winning I can analyze how far off the front of the race I am, look at the many data points and tailor my training and next race strategy accordingly. This result has motivated me enormously. Motto of the story. No matter where you finish in sport, business or life there are always positives to take away from your performance. Continuous improvement comes from the commitment and hard work that you are prepared to put in to achieve your goals. You dream, you believe and you succeed.
