It's honestly unfortunate and disheartening that some companies are stringing people along, posting jobs, interviewing candidates, and then leaving them high and dry. Some already know they’re not going to hire anyone but do so just to make their company appear active and engaged. I ask you, where is your conscience? Why do you treat people like this? You raise their hopes only to say, "Sorry, unfortunately, the position has been placed on hold," after subjecting them to such pressure and emotional torture. Dear companies, the job market is already crazy enough as it is, and people have emotions and feelings. I ask again, where is your conscience? Why treat people in such a manner? Why raise hopes only to go silent? Please, be respectful and at least be human. To anyone out there enduring the struggles and emotional toll of job hunting, I empathize with you. Believe me, one day your light will shine, and what is meant for you will come your way. We are all in this together, and I pray we all emerge victorious and happy. Congratulations in advance on the success that awaits you. Stay strong, keep the faith, and never lose hope✌️

A little Empathy  can go a long way: Recently, I reached out to someone in an organization I was interested in working for, to ask if a position was still available and to express my interest. The response I received was, unfortunately, dismissive, with a blunt "That's not my job. Contact HR." It left me reflecting on how easy it is to forget the struggles of the job search once we're in a secure position. As someone who is actively seeking new opportunities, I understand how much a kind word or a little guidance can mean to someone in this situation. Job hunting is challenging, and a simple gesture of empathy can go a long way.I’ve promised myself that once I’m in a role, I will never forget this journey. I want to be someone who helps others navigate the job market with compassion and understanding, knowing that a small act of kindness can make all the difference. To all who are in the same boat, keep going! The right opportunity will come. And to those in positions of influence remember the power of kindness. It really can change someone’s day, or even their life.

Persistence in job search can significantly impact success. It involves taking every rejection as an opportunity to learn and improve, demonstrating determination to move forward despite challenges. This trait, coupled with optimism, can inspire hope and drive learning and growth throughout the job search process.

One of the most rewarding things happened to me yesterday - a former colleague contacted me to connect with another former colleague. One of them was recently laid off, and the other is at a growing company that's hiring. It feels great to be able to help people find connections and opportunities, especially in today's competitive job market. I know how nerve-wracking it can be to send that initial message asking for an introduction, but I've found that those connections are essential for getting your foot in the door. I'm thrilled to be an advocate for people I know do good work. If you're in my network and looking for an introduction to someone of value, please don't hesitate to let me know. I understand the unease of sending that first message, but it's better to put yourself out there for something you want than to wonder "what if?" Let's help each other out, make those valuable connections, and help each other continue on the path of incremental growth and continuous improvement!

A typical biography of all those who are exploring opportunities in the job market Isn't it just the way life likes to play pranks? You're sitting in your office chair, content as a clam, thinking, "Ah, life is good," when suddenly, knock knock knock—opportunity comes knocking at your door like an overeager salesperson. It's like, "Hey, wanna leave your perfectly cozy job and dive into the unknown?" But of course, you're not interested. You're snug as a bug in your current role, thank you very much. So you politely decline, thinking you've dodged a bullet. Fast forward to the moment you actually decide to dip your toes into the job market pool. You dust off your resume, muster up some enthusiasm, and head out into the wild world of job hunting. And what happens? It's like the universe decided to play hide-and-seek with all the job opportunities. You scour the job boards, and send out applications like confetti at a parade, but all you get in return are crickets. It's as if the job market collectively decided to take a vacation, leaving you stranded on Jobseeker Island without even a coconut to cling to. It's the classic case of "grass is always greener on the other side" syndrome. When you're content, opportunities flood in like uninvited guests to a party. But the moment you're ready to mingle, suddenly, the party's over, and you're left standing alone with your plate of stale hors d'oeuvres. So here you are, stuck between a rock and a hard place, wondering if you should stick with what you have or take a leap into the unknown. How many of you can relate to this?

While in the middle of job search myself, I’ve been reminding myself of a few things to help keep me motivated and not discouraged. I hope these help others as well. 1: God’s plans to prosper us , to give us future and hope, has to also include moments of rejection, pauses, and repositioning. None of that erases His promises but always leads us to through it. 2: It’s better to talk real raw and honest with God about our feelings, so He can comfort and guide us through them. When we try to suppress them, confusion occurs and frustration grows. 3: The waiting room for the blessing leads up to bigger praise breaks and celebrations. 4: As long as you know your greatness and your worth, you are not in the position of waiting on others to show it to you May these be as helpful to you as they are to me as we continue to move towards a place of belonging in the job search/career moves.

So I’m now back in the job market again. It seems the LinkedIn zeitgeist would have me post about how grateful I am to all these people I’ve worked with, conveniently tagging them to maximise the reach of the message because who could fault someone being grateful? While it’s true I’m grateful to a whole heap of people, that’s not this post (and hopefully I’ve told them in person rather than on LI). Instead I wanted to tell anyone else in my network going through similar… (which is code for remind myself through writing): You are more than your job title. The process of job hunting is inherently putting yourself up for the judgement of others. Are you good enough? Are you the best pick? The catch is, these other people only get to see a glimpse of you. A fleeting glimpse judged through the hurried lens of efficiency. They cannot possibly hope to get to know all that makes you you in a simple interview. It’s natural that as these interactions go by, we internalise a small fragment each time. Whether it is good results with floods of offers, or a seemingly hopeless series of rejections… don’t get caught up in it. These are not judgements of your worth as a person. You are more than your job title. Think about your family, your friends, your passions, all the ways that you leave the positive impression on the planet that you do. You make a difference. You have worth. You are more than your job title. And if you are doing it hard, and feel like you need someone to talk to, I promise that I will move whatever I can to make space for a chat, because we can all use some extra connection in these situations.
