Many people are surprised to learn just how large a Mars rover actually is! Take the Perseverance rover, for example. It measures approximately 10 feet in length, 9 feet in width, and stands 7 feet tall—about the size of a small SUV. Weighing in at 2,260 pounds, it is roughly twice the weight of a grand piano. This size can be difficult to appreciate without a point of reference on the Martian surface, where it has been exploring since its landing on February 18, 2021. In comparison, earlier rovers like Spirit and Opportunity were significantly smaller, about the size of a golf cart, weighing only 384 pounds each. Even the first rover, Sojourner, was tiny—comparable to a microwave oven, weighing just 25 pounds. it looks nice and changes somehow from the historical absence of #Poland in the list of countries that had the ambitions to develop the #rocket launch systems. It is worth to remind that originally that absence had been imposed by soviet union during communist period directly and through eastern block control organisms, such as Warsaw Pact and COMECON. After 1989 the polish space activity was developing slowly and main impulsion was given in early 2010s and subsequent integration of Poland to European Space Agency - ESA . The ambitions for launchers are even more recent endeavour coming from historical research from such places as Technical University of Warsaw Łukasiewicz - ILOT, however the development of sounding rockets is now developing steadily with those actors and newspace, such as SpaceForest.

As we celebrate the #InternationalDay for #HumanSpaceFlight it is worth considering how far we have come, and the speed of development that is ever-increasing. Space "Parking" In space, docking two objects can be either "soft" or "hard." Usually, a spacecraft first performs a soft dock by making contact and securing its docking port into the target vehicle's port. After establishing the soft connection and checking the pressure inside both spacecraft, the transition to a hard dock begins. Here, docking mechanisms pull the docking nodes together to form a sealed connection.
