A Public Service Announcement from Mother Goose… Never, ever let your children or grandchildren swim alone and unattended! From the Stop Drowning Now website, a thread entitled, “Facts & Stats About Drowning” @ https://lnkd.in/eyyJ_2iV Here’s a snippet… In the US, an average of 3,500 to 4,000 people drown per year. That is an average of 10 fatal drownings per day. Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages 1-4. Drowning remains in the top 5 causes of unintentional injury-related death from birth to 5 years old. Twenty-three percent of child drownings happen during a family gathering near a pool. Drowning is the cause of death for most boating fatalities. It’s estimated that another 5 to 10 people receive hospital-related care for nonfatal drowning injuries for every fatal drowning victim. Children younger than one-year-old are more likely to drown at home. Eighty-seven percent of drowning fatalities happen in home pools or hot tubs for children younger than 5. Most take place in pools owned by family or friends. Children 5 to 17 years old are more likely to drown in natural water, such as ponds or lakes. #mothergoose #swimmingsafety

“...When you support people with their pets, you reduce the impact on mental health and even some of the medical issues.” We’re well aware that pets benefit human health and well-being. Science confirms: bonding with animals is good for us and animals. Being with our pets lifts us up. Animals help our mental health by keeping us grounded, present, and active. This also means that separation from our pets is extremely painful. And when that grief is added to additional struggles, like homelessness or mental illness? Results can be catastrophic. The LEAST we should be able to do as a society is help people in difficult times stay connected with their families - including their pets. So many people experiencing homelessness face the horrifying choice between safety and their pets. Organizations prioritizing the human-animal bond, like FEEDING PETS OF THE HOMELESS®, The Street Dog Coalition and RedRover. They provide a safe haven for people facing adversity, finding temporary foster homes for their pets, and helping them get back on their feet. We are resilient - but that staying power is doubled with the love of a dog. When our governments and organizations start to respect and protect the human-animal bond for its true worth, that’s when our most vulnerable people will start to see adequate support. 🐕🦺➡️➡️ Click and FOLLOW my LinkedIn hashtag #dogsimeet for more Dog Tales and brand marketing tips and advice. #dogs #support #love

📢 This was too important to me to not post it on LinkedIn. The scorching 110F/43C temperatures in Arizona have been relentless this summer, and therein lies an ominous danger: children left in hot cars. In my years in healthcare, I've seen the devastating impact of such preventable tragedies. I’ve also wondered, how could that happen? It’s not as simple as you think. Researchers have found that deviations from a routine increase the likelihood of a parent (or grandparent!) forgetting about a child in a vehicle. You can take these simple steps to prevent such tragedies: ↳ Always keep your car locked even if you don't have children. ↳ Keep your keys out of children's reach. ↳ Teach children how to honk the horn if they are trapped. ↳ Place an essential item that you won’t forget such as your purse, wallet, or phone in the back seat with the child. ↳ If a child is missing, immediately check the inside and trunk of all cars in the area first. ↳ If you see a child alone in a car, ensure they are okay and call 911 if any concern. P.S. Many states’ Good Samaritan laws protect you if you need to break a window to save a child! Are there other ideas that people have? #ChildSafety #PreventHotCarDeaths

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘀' 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 In the chars, where the simple act of cooking weaves into the fabric of daily life, the ground-set wood-burning stoves tell a tale of warmth and risk. This environment, while fostering familial bonds over meals, also shadows a cautionary note for its youngest members, who play unaware of the dangers. Burn injuries are often a step away. Our narrative seeks to illuminate this issue, advocating for enhanced safety measures and awareness to safeguard the vibrancy of these communities. #CommunitySafety #FirePrevention #ChildSafety #AwarenessCampaign
