We have to, as designers, keep periodically asking this question - what can we do for society? Obviously the challenges that society faces, while designers face them too in their everyday, are not something designers are normally called upon to address. These strategic challenges are of a higher order of complexity and essentially of a different nature. Yet, it is clear to many that there is intrinsic in their nature, a call for approaches that design offers in other domains. Design cannot however take on the burden of addressing these challenge by themselves - that would be an inappropriate hubris on the part of design. The complexities demand inter- and trans disciplinary work, something traditional design is yet to come to grips with - but it could in principle lead these conceptual transformations effectively, if it made the necessary transitions in its own practices. It is also for society itself to recognize this strategic potential and transform design practices and associated ecosystems to serve its purpose.

This Holi, let's embrace the multitude of colors that our careers in IT have shown us. Each hue represents a different aspect of our journey – challenges met, innovations achieved, and milestones celebrated. Three weeks ago, on May 10th, we held The Club HWB's first team bonding event at ROHEI. It was a fantastic opportunity to foster connections across pillar teams through fun, culture-building activities. I just wanted to say a big thank you to our amazing team who helped make it a success: Daphne Ong (Photography) Linda Tirado (Buffet) Adeline Cheung (Ushering) Daryl Goh (Transportation) One activity, called "The Swamp," truly stood out. It wasn't your typical competition – success depended entirely on teamwork. Through this activity, we learned valuable lessons in: Communication: Clear communication was key to solving the challenge together. Sharing Ideas: Everyone's perspectives were valuable assets. Adaptability: Persistence and a willingness to learn from mistakes were crucial. Patience: We learned to be patient with ourselves and each other. Observation: Paying attention to each other's actions led to success. Collaboration: Teamwork was essential for overcoming the challenge. It was inspiring to see connections build and teamwork flourish! These events are vital for creating a strong and supportive department. Huge thanks to everyone who participated and to ROHEI for facilitating such a successful event! Let's continue the conversations and deepen our connections. #TheClubHWB #TeamBuilding #CultureBuilding #Communication
