Last week our CEO Aron Gelbard spoke at the TNW conference here in the Netherlands, discussing how we've scaled Bloom & Wild Group into Europe's leading D2C flower and gifting business particularly the role of bloomon: "Bringing bloomon into our family has been transformational for Bloom & Wild Group, in particular as we've built our Europe-wide operational and sustainability capabilities on bloomon's Netherlands-based supply chain infrastructure and its associated proprietary technology. The bloomon brand is also a key pillar in our growth ambitions and has been seeing strong traction in its core Netherlands and Belgium markets."- Aron Gelbard

As B Lab UK month draws to a close, we wanted to share what was a crescendo for us. Last Wednesday, we welcomed close to 100 Big Thinkers into our brewery home in South London for a panel discussion on climate action and achieving Net Zero. Co-founder Felix James represented Small Beer and was joined by an impressive trio of business owners and sustainability leaders: Emma Loisel, Co-Founder & Chair of Volcano Coffee Works Vera Bruntink, Sustainability Manager Montcalm Collection James Cadbury, Founder of H!P Chocolate | B Corp The evening was chaired by fellow Small Beer Co-Founder, James Grundy Panellists covered carbon measurement, net-zero commitments, and initiatives for supply chain de-carbonisation. They did not shy away from the ethical challenges in complex supply chains and shared practical approaches. We explored the world of carbon credits and offsetting, the complexities of sourcing ingredients across the globe - with coffee beans from Colombia, cocoa from the Congo and hops from the Czech Republic, as well as the challenge of running a sustainable hotel laundry service! It was clear, for all the brands involved, that running their business as a B Corp was simply a non-negotiable. In Emma's words, "it's a baseline from which we build upon." As a final thought from us... B Lab isn't just for one month, it's a journey that we embark on, a belief system that we adopt and framework by which we run our business 365 days a year. #Sustainability #BCorp #Business

I write a lot here about sustainability, but it’s always wonderful to have a concrete example where people can see the real difference effective finance can make to investing in cleaner tech. In my view there’s no better story to share than H&A Barrel Management. H&A is one of those brilliant companies that is doing important recycling work behind the scenes. The company is a leader in the management of barrels for wineries and distilleries – it has more than 900,000 barrels under its management! Its business model extends the life of these barrels to some 50 years, seeing them through from the premium wine market all the way to distillery and brewery industries. Together with us at Siemens Financial Services (SFS), H&A can offer its customers tailor made financing solutions to support sustainable barrel investment. Our global footprint also helps H&A cater to businesses across the world including France, UK, US, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. With the support of our integrated finance, H&A is changing the way materials are re-used and refurbished in its industry. I’ll cheers to that! #Sustainability #Circularity #SmartFinance

A recent study conducted by PwC states that "sustainability issues were the most important issues facing the world" for over 60% of the 4,000 UK consumers who took part. Last week I had the pleasure of chairing a panel of three impressive business leaders and one sustainability expert at Small Beer Brew Co. for B Lab UK month. Our intention was to explore what action was being taken at the heart of UK SME's to address some of the most pressing topics regarding carbon, supply chain, ethics and where each were on their own journeys to net zero. The below shares a selection of the #sustainability #ethics #business and #netzero discussions covered on the night. We deep-dived into the challenges and chipped away at the complexities. We know these topics aren't easy, but it is inspiring to have a room-filled with individuals who share our passion for possibility and positive change within business. Think Big Drink Small.

Moving now with Paques into global leadership in biotech wastewater solutions with breweries as one of their key customer segments. In fact all industries with water 💦 in their primary production process are the customer base of Paques. Originated from Balk in Friesland, The Netherlands and now operates in all geographies of the world 🌎 I guess my passion for water has not faded😉 Say hi to circularity in biotech wastewater #biotech #industrialwastewater #paquesglobal #biopaq

What if the bread on your table was not only healthy and tasty, but also made with fewer emissions? 🤔 We're turning this vision into reality through a collaborative effort with Reitan Retail, Norgesmøllene AS, and Felleskjøpet Agri. 🤝 From farm to fork, we're connecting the dots and introducing an oat-based bread, made with Norwegian oats with a 25-30% lower carbon footprint that traditional oats. The bread will be available at REMA 1000 i Norge in 2025. 🍞 This collaboration is a global model for change. We're setting an example for retailers and producers worldwide- proving that value chain collaboration is not only essential for a nature-positive food future, but possible! 👏 Learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHuKm_re

1850: We collected glass bottles to resell to breweries. 2014: Rawlings developed the lightest water bottle in the UK. Today: We have sustainability at the forefront of our mission. Since our doors first opened, Rawlings have done things differently. We’ve always found ways to make our business that little bit more sustainable. So for us, being the company that drives new methods to make ourselves more environmentally conscious has been always been important. Because as in any industry, until someone starts: We’re all stuck in the past… But our past is far from usual. Since the day William Henry Isaac Rawlings made the decision to set up the horse and cart to collect glass bottles and reuse them, we’ve been ahead of the curve. So today, we’re constantly looking for ways to continue our founders legacy. How’re you working to make your business more sustainable in 2024?

Exploring how to align business with the planetary boundaries. Sharing what I learn along the way at Post Growth Guide.
You don't hear this often: A carbon-negative product without offsets. Yet, that is precisely what a small, independent brewery in London, The Gipsy Hill Brewing Co, has accomplished. Here is a Version-1 Case Study to guide you through the whats and hows. We call it a "Version-1 Case" because it only contains information publicly available. But in addition to publishing it here, we have asked co-founder Sam McMeekin a series of follow-up questions concerning: · Limits to growth · Planetary boundaries · Strategies for scaling impact (other than growth) · Steward-ownership vs. going public · Sustainability in the brewery industry These are challenging questions. Most of them, no businesses think about, despite them being the critical questions to answer in the 21st century when we can no longer ignore the planetary boundaries. We will make a more in-depth Version-2 Case Study as our conversation with Sam progresses. There is much to be learned here.

Wine and spirits producer Pernod Ricard and circular economy solutions provider ecoSPIRITS announced a new five-year global licensing agreement for the distribution of Pernod Ricard’s spitrits brands using ecoSPIRITS’ circular packaging technology to venues around the world, in a deal aimed at reducing waste and carbon emissions from the production and transportation of bottles and other secondary packaging. Founded in 2018, Singapore-based ecoSPIRITS offers a low carbon, low waste distribution solution for premium wine and spirits, with a closed-loop system that eliminates nearly all packaging waste in the supply chain. According to ecoSPIRITS, the company’s system reduces physical glass and cardboard waste by 95%, and carbon emissions from packaging and distribution by 60% – 90%. https://lnkd.in/eHztnGEn #spirits #global #economy #eco #zerobees
