A majority of Americans stand with cannabis 🌿 The unprecedented level of public engagement surrounding the proposed cannabis rescheduling has sent a clear message about the importance of this issue in current American discourse. The sheer volume of comments received by the DEA far surpassed previous records, with over 42,000 responses submitted during the comment period – more than 90% of them coming in support for its rescheduling, if not completely legalizing it. This extraordinary level of civic engagement underscores the significance of cannabis policy reform in the U.S. Analysis of these comments reveals that a strong majority of individuals support the change in cannabis's current status under federal law. Moreover, the majority of commenters went beyond the proposed rescheduling to Schedule III, advocating for its complete removal from the controlled substances list. Each one of us, as a part of this world that we live in, must recognize our potential and power to make the changes necessary to bring the world back to sustainability once again. Each of us must raise our awareness and knowledge of the cannabis plant as a means to sustain ourselves and the planet. A shortsighted focus on unsustainable ways to live has brought us to the position we are in today. We must use our individual influence to change the cannabis laws wherever we are by speaking about it and correcting the misinformation that surrounds it. We must exert pressure on the businesses we are involved in, the healthcare industry that should protect us and the governments that control the laws to legalize cannabis for recreational use and for individual home growing. Being passive recipients of all that is provided to us is likely to find us without a home, food, health and a world in a very short time.

Recently, Ohio has taken a significant step forward with the passing of the new cannabis law. This milestone marks a great victory for the alternative medicine and cannabis industry, showcasing the increasing recognition of this plant's potential in healthcare and wellness. 🍃 Yet, as we celebrate this achievement, we must also acknowledge the journey ahead. On November 7, Ohio voters resoundingly made Ohio the 24th state to allow adult-use recreational cannabis, joining Pennsylvania’s border states New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland. The newly approved initiative will allow adults in the state to possess 2.5 ounces, or 15 grams of concentrates, and gives the green light for home cultivation. Additionally, Ohio will establish a Division of Cannabis Control under its Department of Commerce to oversee regulation. Cannabis law attorney Benjamin Sheppard discusses the specifics of what is allowed under the new measure, how the 10% state cannabis tax will be allocated, and what this means for local jurisdictions, employers, and the Ohio economy overall. Let's talk about the illicit cannabis markets in California and New York being the actual diverse markets. If that doesn't support that opening the market up by removing limited licensing, excessive start-up costs and burn rates, reducing barriers to entry, and cutting back on the very costly overburdensome regulations is how we achieve social equity, I don't know what does.
