As we approach the 80th anniversary of D-Day, today we honor the courage of the Rangers at Pointe du Hoc. Men like Leonard "Bud" Lomell scaled those cliffs under fire, and they saved an untold amount of lives on the beaches by knocking out that artillery. #rltw

Every single time I feel too lazy to do some run of the mill everyday thing I think about this moment in history. Then I kick myself in the ass for ever feeling that way. All of these people deserve our respect and remembrance. They are an example of what it is to give without expectation of reward other than the chance to help save someone else and to give them a chance to do the same. Heroes and real people that have done selfless things.

There is a project working to create a unique memorial to the ascent of Pointe du Hoc. They are working to make a number of bronze sculptures recreating the climb at the town of Grafton Illinois. Their website is https://graftonmemorial.org/

I knew one of these courageous Rangers from my hometown and church in Wisconsin : Mr Donald Pehachek. It was years later when I was watching TV and President Ronald Reagan giving a speech on the Normandy Beaches honoring these Rangers when I learned that this quiet farmer had been part of this mission! He was there among those being honored. God bless you, sir, and all from the Greatest Generation! Words cannot adequately express my thanks for what you did for us and what sacrifice it cost you. Freedom is not free! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️✝️✝️

That SOUNDS great buuuuut…. There was this little place called Grande Camp Macey that calls bullshit on this narrative. Read the book that exposes the classified reality of D-day. Why classified? Well if it wasn’t, “I like Ike” never would have been a thing. 😎. FACT.
