This latest article is more of a prayer, a hope, and a guide for aid organisations to fully embed all of the preconditions they need to proudly say that they are fully invested and able to implement diverse SOGIESC inclusion in their organisations. Of course, things don't always work in a linear fashion, and there are people inside organisations that do individual projects that are inclusive of individuals and specific communities, but that doesn't make an inclusive organisation. Many steps take energy, resources, expertise, and years of hard work. But what a great time to focus on what you can do as an aid organisation than Pride Month.
I wrote today's blog on Sunday after browsing LinkedIn and seeing all the 'Happy Pride' posts. The thing is that after six years in an LGBTIQ+ specific organisation, I have a fairly good idea of all the policies, tools and funding that are inclusive of people with diverse SOGIESC, and I do think that we have a long way to go. So, I wrote 15 steps that aid organisations can do to be proud this pride month. Many of these steps will take time, energy, effort and resources. They will take years to complete, and I hope you commit this Pride Month and consider your accountability mechanisms to be accountable for that commitment to fully embed diverse SOGIESC inclusion in your organisations, programs, and projects. I am here to help. https://lnkd.in/gPaCUzHy

Driving culture transformation through strategic consulting, inclusive leadership coaching, and diversity & inclusion programs to promote equity, social justice.
This Memorial Day, we reflect on the origins of this solemn occasion, honoring the lives lost in battles throughout history. From its inception in the aftermath of the Civil War to its global significance today, Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and justice. As we pay tribute to the fallen, let's also consider the importance of integrating Memorial Day into our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Recognizing the diverse ways individuals experience this holiday fosters a sense of belonging and understanding in the workplace. Let's honor the past while building a more inclusive future. #MemorialDay #WorkplaceInclusion #InclusiveLeadership #DEI #LeadershipEvolution #DiversityEquityAndInclusion #Diversity #Culture #BeyondInclusion #BeyondInclusionGroup #WorkplaceCulture

Its time to end the outdated binary view of Open vs Supported Employment and just focus on providing work choices and pathways for anyone with a disability who wants to work. The more the better. Thanks to a generous multi-year grant from the Bowness Family Foundation , Wallara has been running an innovative pilot program leveraging our corporate partners to enable our employees to take that next step without risk. Here is a summary of the outcomes and impact to date. Big shout out to Carolyn Bloch who led the program for us with expert oversight from Simon O'Brien and incredible support from Leonie Boxtel GAICD. This is what inclusion at work looks like. The challenge now is to see if we can make this work financially sustainable without Foundation support because this work should be happening nationwide and organisations like us are perfectly suited to doing it. #supportedemployment #futureofwork #disabilityrights #inclusion

Doing mahi that makes a difference
Rainbow Tick welcomes Alfie Prasad (top left), our newest Ringa Rehe Mōhio | Education Specialist and Kara Beckford (top right), our newest Ringa Rehe Whakamanatanga | Accreditation Specialist. On his role, Alfie (he/him) says “I'm such a visible part of our rainbow community and I like to leverage that to intentionally start conversations. I'm excited about creating safe learning environments to explore the challenges faced by rainbow employees in the workplace and bringing my own lived experience to these conversations.” On her role, Kara says “I am most looking forward to contributing to the mahi that Rainbow Tick do in the Accreditation space and being a part of a movement towards an indigenous and intersectional approach to rainbow advocacy in the workplace that acknowledges diversity and facilitates healthy spaces for rainbow people to show up fully and live their lives authentically.” If you work for an organisation that’s within the growing Rainbow Tick network but aren’t yet on our mailing list, get in touch at [email protected] to put that right. #diversity #inclusion #walkthetalk #visibility #intersectionality
