Delighted to share the first of our #artichoke stories with the world. Thanks to Stephen McCarthy and Wendy Rowan for shaping this story through their ongoing hard work. The artichoke has now become the symbol of academic activity in the BIS@UCC Department. Specifically, the artichoke captures the intersection of our research strategy pillar activities. These intersections showcase the real dynamism of the BIS academic (like Steve and Wendy). The BIS Department is at the forefront of defining the future of Business Information Systems (BIS), strategically aligned across four pillars that underscore our commitment to excellence and innovation. Therefore, every day we strive to ensure that our pillar activities have a practical impact. In Pillar 1, we are establishing BIS as a beacon of high-impact research globally, intricately weaving smart specialisation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address critical global challenges. Pillar 2 is dedicated to nurturing research graduates, supporting them through an enriching journey that transforms them into inquisitive scholars, ready to contribute meaningfully to the world. Through Pillar 3, we are redefining engagement by designing and hosting a spectrum of research events (online, hybrid, and in-person) that underscore the relevance and applicability of BIS in solving real-world problems. Lastly, Pillar 4 emphasises our dedication to pedagogical excellence, sharing innovative Learning and Teaching (L&T) practices within BIS classrooms, thereby fostering an environment of continuous improvement and knowledge exchange among staff, students, and the wider academic and practitioner communities. Together, these pillars not only amplify the BIS Department's #impact but also reinforce our role as #leaders in shaping the #future of Information Systems #education and #research.
