I have heard numerous times that #bitspilani Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani is only for rich kids. However, after interacting with my students in the last 2 years, I can say that the statement is totally false. Yes, most students do come from good social backgrounds. BITS is self financed and to maintain a good standard in infrastructure, research and teaching , the fees are higher than government funded institutes. However, around half the students have some or the other scholarship which cuts down the fees by half. Most students here are so smart that they already have a side income while they are studying. The Practice School - II also pays the students north of 60k per month during their final year. I know students who finance their own education here. Let the comparatively higher fees of an institute not be the determining factor when a student selects a university. Please do a thorough research of the opportunities in the department that you would join. Go through the faculty profiles, and the current research that the faculty is doing (look at quality instead of quantity). Also look at the other factors outside academics - senior/junior interaction, fests, sport infrastructure, clubs etc. which add to the holistic growth of a student in their most formative years. #educationinindia #indianuniversity #bitspilaniitsmagic

In my five years at BITS, I learned; • To say – I don't know When I first came to BITS, I recognized something fundamental had changed about my classroom interactions In contrast to my years at school, where no question was left unanswered, my professors here didn't seem to have answers to all of my questions What had changed was my teachers no longer professed beyond their circle of competence. They were painfully aware of their own ignorance and were full with intellectual humility I learned that it's of great utility to remind ourselves every single day that we don’t know anything like enough yet • To not settle for answers that aren't answers at all Learning about the world around us is often a painfully slow process. It entails a lot of hard work, time, and patience. When faced with a profound hole in our understanding there's often a very prolific tendency to fill the void with unsubstantiated postulations A conspiracy theory seems better than no theory at all, and pseudoscience seems better than unfinished science. Our need for cognitive closure is so high that any answer is preferable to confusion and ambiguity My mentors taught me to resist the temptation of accepting non-answers • To have a voice While intellectual honesty demands that we reject pseudo explanations, moral courage demands that we call out those who pretend to know that which we don't know When I first started looking into what it is that informs my beliefs, I realized a large part of it was cultural conditioning and very little of it, critical thinking. BITS exposed me to ideas very distinct from my own A few good ones and a lot of crazy ones too. I was part of two associations, what I would now identify as cults, in my freshman year. I did find my way out, but the recognition that there were so many like me who did not and have not, filled me with an urgency to not let false ideas remain unchallenged I learned to be vocal against superstition and dogmatism • Responsibility of freedom Freedom to attend classes or to skip them, freedom to choose my interests and my subjects, freedom to invest/waste my time in any manner I pleased I was at a place where I could get what I wanted. I was paralyzed with choices. I studied science, engineering, finance, literature, and philosophy on this campus Most most importantly, I learned to take responsibility for my actions. I learned freedom without responsibility is wasteful, and life without responsibility is meaningless • To listen I recall chatting up with my political theory professor after one of my classes, when he unexpectedly asked me, ‘what is the greatest danger that humanity faces today?’ Here was a well read, well traveled Oxford graduate asking a twenty something full of ignorance, biases, and flawed thinking, a civilizational question, genuinely interested in my answer as if I had something worthy to say on the subject If he can be that kind of a person, so can I. #BITSPilani - It's Magic!

Surrounded by minds that churn out groundbreaking ideas and hands that build the future, I often find myself asking, "Where do I fit in?" Friends, classmates, even strangers drawn by the lure of intellectual combat, pour in, dissecting everything from astrophysics to the next big social enterprise. Amidst this whirlwind of brilliance, I navigate, sword in hand (metaphorically, of course!), seeking my own path. The pressure to excel is palpable. Everyone here seems to have a pre-defined trajectory, a club they lead, a project they spearhead. I, however, am adrift in a sea of exceptionalism, unsure of which wave to ride. But instead of succumbing to self-doubt, I've chosen to embrace the chaos. My days are a tapestry woven with diverse experiences. I attend electrifying lectures by professors who've shaped industries, lose myself in coding marathons alongside future tech wizards, and engage in philosophical debates that stretch my mind beyond limits. No club or department defines me, but I'm present in every corner, absorbing, learning, growing. My sword, sharpened by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, helps me carve my own path. It's not about outshining others, but about discovering the spark that ignites my own fire. And amidst the constant self-improvement, I haven't forgotten the power of connection. My room, a testament to open minds and collaborative brilliance, serves as a beacon, drawing in those who seek not just answers, but the journey to find them. So, here I stand, in the labyrinth of Bits Pilani, not lost, but ever-evolving. The path ahead may be unclear, but with every interaction, every experience, I inch closer to unearthing my true potential. Good opportunity

𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐱 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨, BITS Pilani saw something unforgettable. Students across campuses united in protest against a sudden fee hike. It was one of the first videos I saw when joining BITS, and it stuck with me. Just yesterday, I read about some IIMs sitting on a 780 crore surplus. Completely different scenario, but it got me thinking about our protest again. Watching those videos, I realized how much student voices matter. Our seniors weren't just complaining - they were out there in the scorching Pilani heat, some even on hunger strikes. That's democracy in action, right there. Did we get everything we wanted? Not quite. But today, BITS has way more scholarships and support for students who need it. That's a win in my book. This wasn't a war against the university. It was about making sure students have a say in decisions that affect them. It showed why all stakeholders need to be part of the process. The unity was incredible. All campuses - Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad - standing together. It proved college isn't just about fun and games. Sometimes, it's about coming together for something bigger. Looking back, I think this was one of BITS' finest moments. It taught us that when we unite, our voices can't be ignored. College life isn't just about lectures and laughs - it's about learning to stand up for what's right, together.

Are you scratching your head & are in a dilemma- Should I quickly publish & graduate faster (for PhD students) or wait to file patents. 3. Leaving BITS Pilani for 2 months… Yaa! My first year at BITS Pilani gets over here, and we got a nice two-month summer vacation, thankfully! Yup, Rajasthan is hot 🥵🔥! It's my first LinkedIn Post after entering into BITS. And, here I bring tech story(ies) of the week with me (every weekend). Life is a rollercoaster journey. Several challenges come and go, but one can't stop progressing. In reality, failing a race doesn't mark your failure but not participating does. And come on, I'm not going to use GPT for composing my Posts. They shall be original, and as I'm just starting, I ought to make mistakes and sound casual. But believe me, I trust in learning with all, I believe that “Gyān bātne se badhtā hai!” So, I'm starting this chapter of my life on LinkedIn… Chalo Gyān ki bānte karte hai! As I approach the culmination of my journey at BITS Pilani, I feel compelled to share my story. Upon joining Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, I often faced the question of why I chose this institution when I could have secured admission in a supposedly better college with my rank. At the time, I couldn't articulate it clearly; my decision was largely based on intuition, as most of decision in my life had been. Today, as I reflect, I can confidently say that this was one of the best decision I took. The whirlwind of semester one—filled with hectic schedules, assignments, quizzes, labs, and TAs—swiftly passed. I took a moment to breathe, and before I knew it, the first semester was behind me. One of the most significant advantages for me has been the friendships forged and the network opportunities provided at BITS. BITS is a place that exposes you to everything, from scorching summers to bone-chilling winters, preparing you for the unpredictable nature of life. BITS has given me the confidence to venture into entrepreneurship. Rejecting lucrative job offers was a tough decision, fully aware that the path at GrEl would be challenging. I am well-equipped to face the upcoming challenges. The belief instilled in me is that if students like us don't take these steps, then who will? I am sincerely enthusiastic about starting my journey at GrEl. I extend my gratitude to my batchmates and my teammates at GrEl, with special thanks to Arijeet Sengupta and Kashyap Joshi. They tirelessly worked alongside me, from our initial struggles in a hostel room figuring out how to host on AWS to writing Golang code. Today, we are on the verge of launching our app. The journey has been long and challenging, filled with doubts, ups, and downs. Countless challenges lie ahead, but with the GrEl team, I am confident that we can overcome them all. Cannot miss mentioning Vikash Kumar, who has been a constant support from Day1 I also want to express my gratitude to my Co-Founder, Sarthak Bansal. His relentless dedication and hard work have not only enabled me to balance my commitments at college but have also been instrumental in driving the progress of GrEl.
