Check out which examples for #circularsolutions you can see in your city this weekend when enjoying local events, markets and gastronomy. It was a part of the #CircularCityChallenge this year to get inspired by already existing solutions. We know that we need to make events, gastronomy and local markets more sustainable and circular by reducing the food and packaging waste and motivate for a better usage of the resources, including water. With “HOPE – who will turn the tide?” we focus on change makers and real-world solutions in Ars Electronica Festival 2024. Our measures are deeply influenced by circular economy, whether it’s the reusable cups in festival gastronomy or the architecture of all exhibitions. We raise awareness for sustainability among our visitors, involve our partners in our guidelines and partner up with (local) companies to find the most sustainable solutions for the festival. After all, only together can we bring about meaningful change. We are guided by the 17 sustainability goals set forth in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Certain fields of action require particular thought, such as mobility, catering & food and event location (which includes energy, water, sanitation, technology and equipment, procurement & waste, social responsibility and communication). Takeover of the bridge St Esprit: done! The 50 flags made from milk waste transform the Adour into a river of milk, a common landscape element in Eastern European fairy tales, which has a French equivalent: the Pays de Cocagne. It is a land where everything is in abundance, with rivers of milk and shores of kissel (a traditional dessert in northern Europe), where animals run and fly already roasted, houses are made of gingerbread, cheese is everywhere instead of stones... Today, the futuristic approach of the Pays de Cocagne sheds light on this medieval dream. The way to achieve this could be the circular economy, which allows us to preserve resources, protect the environment and share fairly, while offering the best to everyone. As part of the Points de Vue street art festival, research is being carried out into how citizens can get involved in urban circular economy initiatives to actively contribute to the recycling and reuse of materials, thus improving sustainability in the short and long term. This is the next stage of our research after the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022 and STALKER within Normandie Impressionniste in 2023-2024.

Last week at our event in NYC, I spoke a lot about Reju our mission, goals and what has inspired me to take the position of CEO. The answer to that is quite simple. 👇 We need to break down our silos and connect across our industry to build a new textile system, end to end. Working together is the only way we can build the infrastructure to recover and sort textile waste and scale new technology to regenerate waste efficiently at scale. Comply with new regulation to future-proof our industry. And change the way we think about textiles, long-term. Because that’s what it takes to keep our industry in business. ✅ Over the years, I’ve worked with so many ambitious, driven and intelligent people across a number of brands, projects and positions in the textile industry. As Reju’s CEO, I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep making connections, or reconnecting, with like-minded people who want to make real change. 🌍 Drop me a message or comment if you’re interested in hearing more about Reju or visiting our Regeneration Hub Zero in Frankfurt. After all, we need to make it work, together. 💪

🌟 Reflecting on the Success of the Inaugural Tyre Emissions & Sustainability Europe Conference! 🌟 Emissions Analytics’ inaugural Tyre Emissions & Sustainability Europe conference took place in Prague, February 2024. We were honoured to welcome industry leaders and academic researchers, sharing their insights and perspectives on tackling the challenge of developing tyres with lower environmental impact. Tyres are essential for our society to function. But how do we produce tyres that minimize polluting tyre wear and are easy to recycle? How can the tyre industry become more sustainable while still delivering affordable tyres to consumers? Throughout the supply chain, there are challenges, but there is also real progress. 🚀 Looking Ahead: We are excited to announce that we will reconvene in Prague on February 11-12, 2025, at the Clarion Congress Hotel to discuss the next steps in tyre emissions and sustainability. Join us to continue the conversation, explore new advancements, and collaborate on innovative solutions. 📅 Save the Date: February 11-12, 2025 📍 Location: Clarion Congress Hotel, Prague, Czech Republic 👉 For more details and to register, visit our website: Tyre Emissions & Sustainability Conference Europe 2025 We hope you can join us! #TyreConferenceEU2025 #Sustainability #Innovation #TyreIndustry #Networking #Prague #SaveTheDate

🔮 Critical Friends' Vision of a Beautiful Economy 🔮 The 2023 CIRCULAR REPUBLIC FESTIVAL wrapped up with a powerful final panel discussion featuring the CRITICAL FRIENDS gGmbH Collective. This group of thought leaders is dedicated to transforming our economic systems for a better future. Let’s delve into the key takeaways from the Critical Friends' discussion on building a "beautiful economy." The panelists represent four perspectives: 💬 Ecologist (Hannes Matt): Highlights the need for a truly sustainable future within planetary boundaries. Criticizes current strategies for being based on decoupling economic growth from material use, which scientific consensus finds unrealistic. 💬 Realist (Anna Goldhofer): Points out that reduction goals based on percentages are insufficient because economic growth outpaces reductions. Calls for absolute reduction targets, new partnerships for circular supply chains, and viewing regulations as a baseline to be exceeded. 💬 Transformer (Andrea Schneller): Emphasizes the need for a designed transformation rather than one forced by disaster. Encourages taking action, going beyond the "bubble" of circular economy enthusiasts, and focusing on the human aspect of the solutions. 💬 Visionary (Benedikt Huber): Challenges the current vision of humans being inherently bad for the environment. Proposes a shift from consumption to "metabolizing" resources, mimicking natural systems. Advocates for new business models where ownership remains with providers to incentivize responsible material use. 📣 Overall, the Critical Friends call for 📣 ▶ A beautiful economy that celebrates humanity's positive impact. ▶ Moving beyond reduction goals and focusing on absolute reductions in resource use. ▶ Building real partnerships for a circular economy. ▶ Viewing regulations as a starting point, not a stopping point. ▶ Rethinking resource management and business models to mimic natural cycles. The Critical Friends Collective has ignited a spark.
