Ensuring reliable funds will give our Young Adult Connection groups members relief from having to pay to be part of a community outing, provide additional special community outings during the months, and more. During April, you can show your direct support to help us achieve our goal of $5,000 the following ways: - Consider making a reoccurring monthly donation supporting our Young Adult Connection program. - Creating your own fundraiser at school, work, church, etc to support our Young Adult Connection program. Some ideas could be host a car wash event, wearing jeans to work or school for $5, etc. Then directly donate the proceeds from your fundraiser to ACC. - Simply make a one time donation to support our Young Adult Connection program. Me: I’m overwhelmed. There’s not enough time in a day 🫠 Also Me: I would love to be a Committee Chair for the annual fundraiser! It just so happens that for me, one form of self-care is service. The non-profit I volunteer with provides long-term rehabilitative care for survivors of s*x trafficking. They have an annual gala to raise money. Something they added last year was a variety of immersive experiences. The experiences are all things the girls enjoy— tattoos, painting, ax throwing, etc. And this year I get to oversee a team to strategize and run the experiences as the Experience Freedom Committee Chair! 🤔 If you’re wondering how I make time to volunteer on top of work and parenting a child with a disability, refer to the tumbleweeds of dog hair in the corners of my house. The Need for TACT is REAL Earlier this morning, TACT's leadership team was putting together information about the impact of our program. Below is a graph of state data of clients receiving employment services through Medicaid, which we were also looking at (not TACT data). Please take a look at the number of individuals on the waiver compared to the number receiving employment services. There is a HUGE difference. The need for TACT - Teaching the Autism Community Trades is real. Our community deserves equality of opportunity to employment and careers of their choice. TACT is providing real outcomes, and looking at these numbers, the need is increasing. It's World Autism Month. Please take a moment to donate to TACT and help continue to lead.
