Our BDB Europe Hive Insights day was a hit. 🐝 We invited 16 incredible candidates to our new London office to take part in our BDB Hive Insights Day. Our team gave an overview of the different agency teams, showcasing the exciting projects our interns could get the chance to work on. The candidates then tackled group tasks to present to the room. Capping off the day, each candidate had one-on-one interviews with BDB team members, offering a sneak peek into their potential future roles. A big thank you to Ed Bernardino & Fi Marlow for organising the day and to the BDB team for helping throughout! We can’t wait to welcome our interns next month. #Internship #CreatorEconomy #InfluencerAgency

Today’s featured intern is Rebecca Skoler! A rising senior at the University of Virginia, Rebecca is studying leadership and public policy. After six weeks and what she describes as an “informative, educational, and well-rounded" internship, she shared the top three takeaways she learned this summer: 1. How to analyze data and create pivot tables. 2. Real work experience (presentation skills, public speaking) 3. The importance of putting yourself in the shoes of your target demographic and understanding their needs and values. If you are new to the profession - and starting a summer internship - you are more tuned into the business press. Two weeks ago, the world saw rate cuts in the US as a 2025 affair. Fast forward to today - and with a bit more data – the world sees at least some cuts in 2024. Feel like conventional wisdom is a puppy chasing a forecasting ball around the yard? Therein lies the advantage of attending our June Macro Summit for Summer Interns. Establish an intellectual framework early in your career. Let the rest of the investment profession chase frisbees.

Easy project idea for my summer interns out there: 🥷 Stay late one night and swap out all the clicky pens in the office with non-clicky ones, and throw away all pen caps. ✍️ You just saved an hour per year per employee by improving the efficiency of the tools they use every day. Great bullet point for the resume.

Helping you to build a blend of life and business that works with your personality, circumstances + goals. Plan your goals, price + package your skills, present them to your ideal client. 25% off in my shop...
Support the intern... Never mind the big names with big offices (and maybe some big egos :), it is time to support the intern... as this could be mutually beneficial. When you put yourself and your work into the world you never know who is watching (this has surprised me countless times over the last 25 years)... I fully believe in treating everyone well on the way 'up' - I mean, really, whether you are going up or down or side to side, it is really important. The intern may be the person who is gathering the selections and if you are clear, concise, ready etc you could make the intern look excellent when they deliver those choices. You land on the desk and the intern looks ace... winner winner chicken dinner. Speak UP LIVE is on 1.3.2024 Are you coming? https://lnkd.in/eVTZijs7

Apprenticeship has been around since the Middle Ages, but the first modern interns were medical students in the late 19th century. By the 1970s, professionals in business and engineering started to see internships as a way to bridge academic theory and practice; in the ’90s, as criticism of academic study without direct practical applications pressed liberal arts disciplines to justify themselves, more professional fields started offering internships. Internships are a crucial step into the job market, but not for the reasons most people might expect. Internships purport to school mostly young people on the skills they’ll need for specific industries. Again and again, though, former interns say the true lesson is more basic: This is how you act—or don’t act—at a job. Still, whether an internship has been a positive or negative experience, no one forgets it. It’s formative. “You can have a chance engagement with someone you don’t know well that turns into a transformational opportunity,” says Ben Colman, who got a lucky break during his summer internship at Google in 2012. Happy Intern Day! In the course of the past two months, it has been fun and interesting to work with and get to know some of our interns. For many (maybe all?) this is their first fully in-person job experience. When I contrast our intern program this summer with my son's internship with Coke during the pandemic, it's like night and day. Both positive experiences, but very different. I know there is still a lot of discussion around #returntooffice and in our business that discussion usually focuses a lot on investment in office buildings. I wonder the long-term impact on young careers of in-person vs. work from anywhere vs. hybrid internships and early work experience.
Happy National Intern Day! We want to honor our interns that have been working with us this summer. We are grateful for all of their hard work and dedication throughout these past two months. In celebration of #NationalInternDay, Seventh Sense would like to shine the spotlight on our own summer interns. First up...Hunter Hair. Hunter is interning at Seventh Sense is our IT Division. He recently graduated from James Madison University (JMU) with a BBA in Computer Information Systems. His passions include music, world history and basketball. Hunter created two albums in the past year and loves all genres of music. He's also always eager to learn about world history, specifically in the realms of leadership, governmental structure, philosophy and religion. Hunter is always down for a game of pick-up basketball game with friends. What attracted you to Seventh Sense Consulting (SSC)? "SSC initially stood out to me because of its innovative approach to the way we look at work. Being a fully remote company that is successful and efficient at this scale is very impressive and a place that I want to be." What do you hope to learn during your time at SSC? "During my time as an intern, I hope to learn as much as I can about the company and its processes, as well as consulting in general. One day I hope to also understand what all the abbreviations that the government uses mean because right now I feel like people are talking a different language sometimes." 😀
