Cultivating a Greener Future: Green Schools Initiative ♻️ At Grewind®️, we believe education extends beyond the classroom. That's why we're promoting the Green Schools Initiative with Recycle.Green fostering a culture of #sustainability within #schools and empowering students to become responsible towards #environment. This program encourages schools to reduce their environmental footprint by: ➡️ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Parents can exchange old books for new, recycled ones, and the program facilitates book buy-back initiatives. Additionally, schools serve as collection points for household recyclables like plastic, glass, e-waste, and clothing. ➡️ Education for Action: Interactive waste-reduction sessions engage students, fostering a deeper understanding of their environmental impact. ➡️ Recognition and Motivation: Schools & Parents receive certificates acknowledging the number of trees saved through their use of recycled notebooks, cultivating a sense of accomplishment and encouraging continued participation. Together, let's empower the next generation to build a greener future. Learn more about the Green Schools Initiative and how your school can get involved! If you remember the 'Recycle with Michael' initiative, we can guess where you're from. Perhaps it's a little silly, but Michael was a bit of a Recycling Hero! And this #GlobalRecyclingDay, we're celebrating all of you recycling heroes, especially those in schools. ♻️ We know modern schools are doing what they can to lessen their substantial impact on the environment. They must try to become sustainable because there are huge benefits to everyone if they can achieve it. When you think about it, education facilities consume huge amounts of energy, create lots of waste, and contribute to local pollution. You have the power to change that. 💪🏻 Just small changes to your school can make a massive difference to the environment, and teaching children the importance of sustainability can make them into little recycling heroes, too. 🏆 Dive into our ever-growing Environmental, Social & Governance collection - it's designed to encourage environmental and social change from the beginning. #recyclingheros #globalrecyclingday #recycling #recycle #sustainability #reducereuserecycle #ecofriendly #environment

🎥 "No Contamination Fines – Education First!" In this insightful clip, we explore an approach to recycling that focuses on education over punishment. Instead of fining for contamination, a 3-strike method is used. If someone contaminates 3 times, their recycle bin is removed—but no fines are issued. It’s all about communication and helping people understand that recycling is the norm. Sometimes, it’s a simple fix like explaining to families how to dispose of waste properly. Other times, people may have a lot going on, but when they’re ready, support is always available. Let's build a culture where doing the right thing is easy, accessible, and supported. 💚♻️ #ZeroWaste #RecyclingEducation #SupportNotFines #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #ScrappRecycling #GreenLiving

Last week, we kicked off our Ontario College and University Sustainability Professionals AGM talking about becoming a zero-waste campus. Attendees toured the campus with Angela Plant to see waste-themed initiatives including the Free Store, Textbooks4Change, and our recycling stations. Afterwards, we launched into a waste-management-themed panel with representatives from ECGO , CleanRiver Recycling Solutions, Friendlier, and the City of Ottawa. Together, we engaged in crucial discussions about the future of waste management, exploring innovative solutions and collaborative strategies to tackle pressing challenges. Key topics included: 🔄 Recycling Infrastructure: Exploring ways to enhance and optimize our recycling systems to increase efficiency and waste diversion rates. 🔧 Technology Integration: Harnessing the power of technology to revolutionize waste diversion efforts and incentivize recycling behaviours such as with the ECGO app. ♻️ Reusable Containers: Embracing sustainable alternatives to single-use items and promoting the widespread adoption of reusable containers like Friendlier. 🏙️ Collaborating with Municipalities: Strategizing large-scale recycling initiatives and forging stronger partnerships with local governments to create impactful, community-wide solutions. Thank you to all our panelists Nicole Toole, Tom Lembo, Jacqueline Hutchings, Rachael Jones, and Abby Armstrong. #ZeroWaste #Sustainability #WasteManagement #Recycling #OCUSP

International Recycling Day has arrived, and we have more exciting data to share that may inspire your school to reduce, reuse and recycle with Reach! Did you know that every time a leave request is processed in Reach, it automatically accounts for the student's meal, contributing to less food waste? 🍽️ From August 1, 2023, to March 14, 2024, Reach schools across North America have processed over 850k Leave Requests, resulting in 4.5 million meals saved or not being prepared. This impressive figure highlights the significant impact on reducing food waste in our schools. As we celebrate, let's also remember that every small act of recycling, reducing or reusing makes a big difference for our planet. Together, we can make a world of difference! https://lnkd.in/erdGGwm #InternationalRecyclingDay #ReduceFoodWaste #SustainableLiving #WithinReach #saasproduct #EdTech

Raising a generation of kids who are aware of the benefits of protecting our environment is one of the best ways to build a sustainable future. Schools should, therefore, find ways to help students become eco-conscious. Some ways to do this are by providing colour-coded recycling bins, setting recycling targets and appointing environment officers. What are your thoughts on this? Please share them in our comment section below. Read more here: https://heyor.ca/Sl0Sqv #Environment #Sustainability #Recycling #EnvironmentOfficers

☀️Day 3 of AI and sustainability Challenge ☀️ Visualization and Sustainable Practices: Envisioning a transformation of this dump site involves several key sustainable practices such as, Organizing regular community cleanup events can remove litter and waste from the area, improving aesthetics and fostering a sense of community responsibility and engagement. Installing recycling bins and stations to sort waste into categories like plastics, glass, metal, and organic waste, coupled with educating the community about proper recycling practices, can significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. Creating designated composting areas can turn food scraps and yard waste into valuable compost, enriching local gardens and green spaces. Transforming the cleaned-up area into a green space with trees, plants, and benches can serve as a community park, providing a pleasant environment for residents to enjoy and promoting biodiversity. Implementing educational programs in local schools and community centers to teach residents about sustainable waste management practices, including workshops on reducing, reusing, and recycling waste, is crucial. Additionally, partnering with local businesses to sponsor and maintain the green space can provide funding or resources for the maintenance and improvement of the area, while also promoting their commitment to sustainability. #GETINGO #WBG #31DaysofSustainabilityAdvocate.
