Our new short film showcases two Step and Stone trainees at their places of employment. We are so proud of Alfie and Helen, and all they have achieved since being supported into work by Step and Stone. They have both become incredibly valued team members who are breaking barriers and changing perceptions on the capabilities of people with a learning difference.
We hope this film inspires more people to dream big in their careers, and encourages employers to expand their work force and hire inclusively.

#Reflecting on my first interview with #JetAirways, Despite my inexperience, I was fortunate to be among the top 5 selected out of 2000 candidates, after promising to upskill myself.
I didn't realize the importance of #grooming and #presentation. Despite my inexperience, I was given a #chance after promising to upskill myself. Over time, these #habits became ingrained in my personality, and I even took a #style and #image program to further improve my learning of #corporates
I noticed many people #overlook this #crucial aspect, especially in the #virtual world. Whether it's forgetting to #brush hair before turning on the #camera or wearing a casual graphic t-shirt, how we #dress, #speak, and #present ourselves significantly impacts our careers.

I spoke to the careers team at Stylist Magazine about how to recognise your job has reached the 'end zone'. It's a stage where you feel despondent and cynical. You probably find it hard to feel motivated. This can often feel worse as we approach a new year and are encouraged to assess what we have achieved in the year that has passed.
My firm advice is that you must start to communicate. It may be that you are misreading the situation and making assumptions that open and honest communications could change. Speak to your manager or supervisor to clarify the real situation at work. They may be able to correct you on your prospects and reignite your passion for the role - or it might harden your resolve to move on. Either way you are moving out of the 'end zone'.

It takes a significant amount of time and energy to groom a beard – if anything it is a showcase of commitment. On World Beard Day, we salute all the bearded professionals who bring their A-game not just to their grooming, but also to the workplace.
While well-groomed beards are now more accepted in modern workplaces, this spirit of self-expression has not translated as effectively to campus placements where young individuals are forced to shave for placement interviews. It's clear that this gap needs to be bridged - between the classroom and the real world.
