With all the benefits that trees provide, having an inequitable distribution of trees exacerbates social inequities. But how do we know where to begin tackling this disparity? Enter the Tree Equity Score UK. Using tree canopy data and six climate, health and socioeconomic indicators, the interactive map tool scores most urban neighbourhoods in the UK. While it’s great to see the majority of London boroughs have scores indicating moderate to low priority levels, the map takes a closer look and highlights specific neighbourhoods within each borough that suffer from inequitable access to trees.
