Publication alert 🚨⚠️ I'm very proud to share that my second research article from my PhD, "The Allegory of Tacit Knowledge: A Review & Research Agenda for Entrepreneurship," has been published in the Review of Managerial Science. This publication is particularly special to me, as I began this article after being inspired by an excellent academic entrepreneurship course in Sweden in 2020 hosted by Jonas Gabrielsson at Halmstad University. This part of my PhD journey was the most challenging to complete and required the most effort to publish. Seeing it now recognized by the academic community fills me with joy. In this article, my co-authors and I explore the critical role of tacit knowledge in entrepreneurship literature. We conducted a systematic literature review to synthesize existing research, identify key gaps, and propose a framework for better understanding and utilizing tacit knowledge in the entrepreneurial field. This work serves as a valuable resource for scholars and practitioners, helping to bridge gaps and shape future research in this important area. A huge thanks to my UHasselt co-authors, Jelle Schepers, Pieter Vandekerkhof, and Wim Voordeckers, and to everyone who supported this journey. 🌟 Insightful Panel Discussion on Innovation and Community Impact at the 2024 ACEEU Americas Forum 🌟 Today, ACEEU Chair Thorsten Kliewe led a panel discussion titled "𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬". The panel highlighted how universities could and should catalyse innovation and societal impact through entrepreneurship and engagement.      Here are some of the key points and takeaways for those who missed it: • You might wake up to realise that Amazon has opened a university next door to your institution, and it will kick your butt  • Use the competition for resources for the three university missions to your advantage. Competition makes you stronger.   • Be prepared to blow up all your structures and start with a blank piece of paper to design a third mission approach that suits your institution and your environment   • There is no way to stop AI. We need to embrace it. We are still in the very early stages of using it to support entrepreneurship.   • “We don't simply teach entrepreneurship in the classroom; we teach it through and with the ecosystem”   • We need to understand how to get more PhD students to think entrepreneurially and exploit their research. 🤝 Ten teams of academic entrepreneurs recently completed the ICURe Discover North East programme, a joint initiative from Opportunity North East Limited and the University of Aberdeen, in partnership with Innovate UK. 💡This programme took researchers on an eight-week journey, to equip them with invaluable market understanding and customer discovery skills. 🗨️ Jennifer Craw, CEO at Opportunity North East Limited, commended the participants: "The level of presentations was excellent, and showcased the potential and strength of the next generation of entrepreneurs in this region. “Our partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Innovate UK will continue to grow, providing further opportunities in the region and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem. ONE drives the message of innovation, supporting people to become the entrepreneurs of the future." 🗨️ Professor Bettina Platt, founder of a spin-out neuroscience company and programme participant said: “The ICURe Discover programme was an amazing opportunity and an engaging experience. We asked them some question to gain insight into their innovation work. - In short, what is your project about? The purpose of our project is to understand how CPAC can package value and use servitization to find new business opportunities. What competencies of yours do you feel have come most handy during the project? One of our main abilities is that we work effectually rather than casually. Neither we nor the organization clearly know what the project goal is, and therefore we must constantly pivot and adapt to new information and situations. We are used to working with what we have and making the most of it. What has been the most fun during your projects? Getting our hands dirty by working both operatively and strategically, speaking to customers to understand their needs while also seeing the big picture. Another major thing is that we are in the front seat of the project and have the opportunity to steer it in the direction we find suitable. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to share some thoughts in my latest Forbes article: "From Research Lab to Entrepreneurship: Five Key Lessons to Building an AI Company." In this article, I reflect on some key lessons I’ve learned along the way, hoping they might be useful to others navigating a similar path: 1️⃣ Moving from research to practical application.   2️⃣ Building a well-rounded, diverse team.   3️⃣ Listening closely to user feedback.   4️⃣ Staying flexible in the rapidly changing AI landscape.   5️⃣ Seeking partnerships that can help scale and grow.
