My own experience tells me that what Roger speaks and writes about in relation to SPORT, is happening in every other sector. His book, Sports Perfect Storm 🌊 is a must read for anyone interested in finance, business, and markets. The change In the cost and availability of funding, has changed the nature of the game for everyone. It's that cohort of people who figure this out the quickest, who will be the ones who make the right decisions and the most progress. Time is infinite, decisions in business need to be made, how to fund and finance projects has become alot more difficult. My sense is that given the very hands off approach to understanding all of this from so many in business, it will bring alot of pain. The plates are moving, the game has changed, and given the mountains of debt sitting everywhere, it really is a critical time for so many. Sports Perfect Storm - Business owners Perfect Storm 🙌

As the #sportsbiz is celebrating 100 days to go until the Paris Olympics, I wanted to flag this short video clip from yesterday's #playequitysummit24 in LA. The summit honored the LA84 Foundation's 40 years of impact through the power of sports as a legacy of the 1984 Olympic Games. This clip is Angel City Football Club Co-Founder Julie Uhrman speaking to their journey of impact and she said something that really struck me about when they were starting out: "We want to lead with purpose but we don't know what that means." Even for the most well-intentioned leaders in the sports industry, diving into #socialimpact is anything but straightforward. So they wisely found a strategic partner in Renata Simril and team, which she explains has allowed them to put $2.5 MILLION towards local impact in LA through their 10% sponsorship model. I regularly cite the principle of the power of 1 + 1 = 3 to people when talking about the power of effective partnerships and this helps demonstrate that. Bring your unique assets to the table and find a partner who shares values but brings different expertise to the table so you can do more working together than you can alone. Innovation in Sports Ownership: The Superbike Ladies League Adopts an National Basketball Association (NBA) -Inspired Model In the dynamic world of sports, the ownership structure of a team is crucial for its success. The Superbike Ladies League (#SLL) has recently announced its intention to adopt an ownership model inspired by the prestigious NBA. This strategic move aims to strengthen team management and increase fan engagement. The National Basketball Association (NBA) requires a true owner to hold at least 15% of the franchise, ensuring significant involvement in team management. For the #SLL, this would translate to acquiring a minimum stake of 1.5 million euros for a team valued at 10 million euros, ensuring that owners are deeply involved and accountable. Additionally, the SLL would allow passive investors to hold up to 5%, or 500,000 euros, allowing them to contribute financially without active management participation. The remaining 85%, or 8.5 million euros, would be distributed among other major and minor investors, potentially including fans through collective ownership programs. Implementing this model will require careful market valuation of teams, clear rules for buying and selling stakes, and stakeholder approval.
