Flooding events everywhere - in the US in December and now in Germany. Flood risks and their disclosures for buyers is getting increasingly important for real estate owners and companies. The current flood hazard areas are very often based on past flood events, not on future projections about sea level rise, storm surge, or torrential precipitation that we are seeing. So there could be a flood risk outside of areas where flood insurance is mandatory. Legislators in the US are considering a new law that would require that realtors disclose flood risk to potential buyers of residential or commercial properties, potentially a legislation that could be template for other countries. https://lnkd.in/efvJeKfk #flooding #realestate # #climatechange #climatecrisis #realtors #legislation #locationhealth (Picture: flooding in Main/USA in December)

Most people think of flooding as an issue for waterfront homeowners, although the truth is that flooding can impact those with homes even hundreds of miles inland 🌊👀 What's most important is the house’s elevation above sea level and whether or not the nearby lakes and waterways are prone to overflowing during severe rains. For this reason, flood insurance should be considered by almost every homeowner, especially those living anywhere in in the state of Florida. https://lnkd.in/ejVRimA #themarcusgroup #homeownersinsurance #floodinsurance

The West Coast, for instance, relies on levees that can erode or weaken over time, especially after the ground has been destabilized by fire. Ensure your clients understand these hidden threats and the importance of having adequate flood coverage. #InsuranceEducation #RiskManagement #BeyondFloods #FloodAfterWildfires #Insurance #PropertyInsurance #InsuranceKnowledge
