It was a pleasure being invited in the nice city of Madrid as a panelist and speaker by ENG (European Networking Group) during their 12th Automotive Warranty Management Summit and 24th Annual Automotive Retail & Distribution. During the 1st panel, we discussed how warranty management has evolved alongside data and privacy. Also how advancements in data analytics are reshaping warranty management, providing more precise and proactive solutions. We also discussed the significance of #in-vehicle data , functions and resources which offer plenty of possible new innovative services to the customer. But, and this is key, the access has to be fair and accessible to the entire automotive value chain, and this is not the case at the moment. Reason for which, CECRA , together with 9 other EU association of mobility, consumer and aftermarket sectors, is requesting the European Commission to come with its long awaited SSL (sector specific legislation) initiative on #accesstodata, to complement the already adopted horizontal #DataAct. Additionally, I had the pleasure of presenting the new #distribution models (#agency contracts v distribution contracts) and to speak about the new #Chinese brand and their opportunities for #dealers. Thank you to the European Networking Group for having invited me at this summit. Special thanks to : -my panel colleagues Mandy Berg from Allane Mobility Group and Anil Sinha Tata Group, and to Wayne Mitchell from Sedgwick for facilitating the panel -and to the other speakers of today STEFANIA DE SANTIS - IVECO Joaquín García Martín - Valeo Alberto Villarreal Gutiérrez - The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Francisco Sánchez Rodríguez - SEAT S.A. ‘Empowering the European Automotive Ecosystem: A Call for Regulatory Action’. New #PositionPaper by the Independent Service Providers group on the urgency of regulatory action to unlock the European #Automotive data ecosystem, fostering #Competition, #Innovation, #Consumer choice, and #Affordability. The #DataAct establishes important new data-sharing principles in Europe but falls short in addressing the fundamental competition issue originating from vehicle manufacturers’ gatekeeper position regarding access to vehicle data. The solution: Europe needs a regulated data access framework for vehicles, providing equal access to data for all market players that can unlock investments in both traditional and innovative services. We call on the European Commission to act decisively and propose sector-specific legislation on access to in-vehicle data, functions, and resources by the end of this year. Last December 22nd, the #DataAct was officially published at the Official Journal of the European Union, establishing a general framework for the use of data from connected devices. Even though the Data Act constitutes a key milestone for the users' rights, it is not sufficient when it comes to #mobility. Why do we need a sector-specific regulation on #vehicledata ? Because we want to preserve the free choice of the consumers and the transparency on the data generated by the use of vehicles, the resources and functions of vehicles. A sector-specific regulation would guarantee services interoperability, allow an effective users’ freedom of choice and offer immense potential for safer, smarter and more affordable mobility. Moreover, such a regulation will also be key for the development of a European innovative connected mobility value chain and European competitiveness. That's why today, ETRMA, represented by Ragunath Barnerjee, VP Data & Solutions of Bridgestone EMEA, accompanied by the representatives of ADAC, Ayvens, MACIF, and the CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers, led a press conference in Brussels. The goal? To call on the European Commission to urgently bring forward long-planned #legislation on access to in-car data. Fully aligned with the messages conveyed by the speakers today, Michelin advocate a sector specific legislation on access to vehicle data, functions and ressources. ↪️ https://lnkd.in/em73zA9N Leaseurope Insurance Europe FIGIEFA - Automotive Aftermarket Distributors ADPA - Automotive Data Publishers Association CECRA EGEA - European Garage Equipment Association aisbl Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile AIRC

This idea around #dataspaces becoming the place where future standards in industries are defined is so powerful! In a world where #data & #AI language is the "new business language", #dataspaces become the ecosystems where tangible new value is created thanks to a trustworthy environment (#trustframework) where organizations speak the same language (because the 'de facto' standards have been co-created and adopted by the hole ecosystem). #cloud #dataeconomy

A green, competitive, and affordable mobility ecosystem in Europe will in large part depend on adequate access to in-vehicle data within the aftermarket value chain, including the independent automotive repair and service market. This was the core message at CLEPA’s Aftermarket Conference, held last month in Brussels, which gathers key industry stakeholders to discuss market outlook and latest aftermarket solutions. In a high-paced sector where technologies such as artificial intelligence and connectivity continue to open new opportunities for business practices, EU regulation must ensure a level-playing field that allows automotive market actors to adapt and help create the innovative and consumer-oriented space needed for future mobility. Europe’s automotive industry is facing growing challenges including job loss and a shift in investments away from the EU supply industry. The right market incentives are needed now to boost the global competitiveness of our industry. Read my latest editorial here

Are you on IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024? Let's meet up and join our inject session! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? We have conducted a comprehensive analysis (called dicoDecode+) over the past 12 month, evaluating over 700 digital services from more than 100 providers across Europe, China, and the USA. We also gathered valuable user insights from key markets like Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and the UK. 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀? Then you should join our inject session at IAA TRANSPORTATION. Together with my fantastic colleagues Helmut Stadler, Jonas Nietschke and Jack Matlack we will share deeper insights and further elaborate on the following three hypotheses: 1. Spreading resources across digital services without differentiation is inefficient. OEMs should focus on vehicle-based solutions to stay competitive in an API-first world. 2. Third-party providers are limiting their full potential by focusing on hardware solutions. Open systems and cross-platform experiences among all players are the way forward, leveraging third-party providers software capabilities. 3. In an industry challenged by driver shortages, prioritizing drivers’ needs is essential. Yet, there are still only a few digital services that provide meaningful support for drivers. Here’s everything you need to know: 🗓️ When? September 17th | 11:00 am – 11:45 am 📍 Where?
