We partnered with DevaCurl, an award-winning American hair brand, to give their packaging a sustainable refresh. Our in-house design and innovation center, Studio One Eleven, blended modern aesthetics with sustainability, creating the perfect match for their cruelty-free, nourishing formulations. DevaCurl’s packaging features: Increased Recycled Plastic: To maintain the brand’s signature green color while incorporating sustainability, we created new bottles incorporating 50% recycled ocean-bound plastic and 100% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic for the caps. This gave the packaging a premium aesthetic while reducing plastic waste. Design for Optimal Recyclability: We applied a matte finish in-mold, enhancing the softness and touchability of the bottles. Importantly, this finish didn’t compromise recyclability, ensuring the package remained eco-friendly. Enhanced Consumer Appeal: We designed a custom curly disc top cap made with 100% PCR plastic. This unique twist reflects the brand’s curly hair focus and sets their products apart on the shelf. At Berlin Packaging, we empower our customers to unpack their sustainability impact. Brands tend to blame plastic as the main culprit for environmental issues. However, in the end, it’s the people who decide whether to recycle, reuse, or adopt new business models. The plastic industry is making significant progress, and brands must acknowledge these advancements. It’s true that as manufacturers, we are incorporating new products, but we must not forget that creams need to be well-protected, as they are applied directly to the skin. Additionally, it’s crucial to understand which material to use as a protector, considering everything from a 360-degree perspective. Everything has different points of view depending on how you look at it. thank you Allison Turquoise to let me share, follow her at Instagram / @allisonturquoise and Susan Yara #packaging #plastic #glass #brands #sustainable #footprint #co2

🌿 Tip #9: Eco-Friendly Makeup and Hair Practices! 💄🌱 This #PlasticFreeJuly, let’s focus on reducing plastic waste in our makeup and hair departments. Opt for makeup and hair products that come in recyclable or biodegradable packaging. Look for brands that prioritise sustainability and offer refills. Use reusable makeup applicators, such as washable sponges and brushes, instead of disposable ones. For hair, use biodegradable or wooden combs and brushes. Buy products in bulk to reduce the amount of plastic packaging waste and decant into reusable containers. By adopting these practices, we can reduce our plastic footprint while still looking fabulous on set. 🌏 #Sustainability #GreenOnSet #PlasticFreeMakeup #EcoFriendly #FilmSetSustainability

Day 7 of the #PlasticAwarenessChallenge: The True Cost of Gift Wrap. 🎁 We all love giving and receiving beautifully wrapped gifts, but have you ever stopped to think about the real cost of that glossy, sparkly gift wrap? Most of it ends up in the trash, and much of it contains plastic, glitter, or metal, which makes it impossible to recycle. This means the beauty of your gift lasts only a moment, but the environmental impact lingers for years. 🌍 📊 Fact Check: It’s estimated that during the holiday season alone, India generates around 5,000 tons of non-recyclable gift wrap waste. That's enough to cover entire city blocks in discarded paper! And this doesn't even account for the plastic tapes and ribbons used to tie it all together. What’s the Alternative? Here at Gify, we’re rethinking gift-giving. We believe in wraps that are just as thoughtful as the gifts inside. Here are some simple, yet creative ways you can wrap sustainably: - Cloth Wraps: Beautiful and reusable! Use cotton scarves, handkerchiefs, or even an old favorite t-shirt. Fabric wrapping is versatile and can be repurposed. - Newspaper & Magazines: It might sound quirky, but wrapping with old newspapers or magazines gives gifts a retro, artistic vibe. - DIY Art Paper: Use plain brown or white paper and let your creativity shine with hand-drawn designs or eco-friendly stamps. - Jars & Baskets: Ditch the wrap altogether! Present your gift in a reusable jar or basket for a rustic, earthy feel that can be reused. At Gify, we're on a mission to provide eco-friendly gift wrap options that are stylish, sustainable, and guilt-free. By making small changes to how we wrap, we can make a huge difference for our planet. What’s your take? Would you try these alternatives? Let’s change how we gift together. 💚✨ #SustainableGifting #EcoFriendlyWrapping #PlasticAwareness #GiftSmart #Gify

🌱The small things might not catch everyone’s eye, but they surely caught the environment's heart. In the retail world, little things like plastic hangers for socks, scarves and baby clothes mount up, and can have a big environmental impact ⛰️ Each year, around 8 billion plastic clothes hangers end up in landfills - leading them to be known as "the plastic straws of the fashion industry" 👀 Imagine the difference if your brand could help change that. Rethinking Material Sustainability: Leather vs FineWoven 🌱🔍 As the debate between natural and synthetic materials heats up, a recent study commissioned by UNIC - Concerie Italiane conducted by ARS Tinctoria puts Apple’s FineWoven material under the microscope. The findings? FineWoven, despite being marketed as a sustainable alternative to leather, may not fulfill its environmental promise. Leather, a byproduct of the food industry, has been a cornerstone of sustainability long before the term became a global rallying cry. It’s recyclable, durable, and naturally biodegradable, ticking all the boxes for an eco-conscious choice. On the flip side, FineWoven’s touted recycled content is overshadowed by its petroleum-based origins – a stark contrast to leather’s natural composition. When we talk about long-term environmental impact, leather stands out for its minimal footprint, challenging the ‘green’ narrative built around many synthetic alternatives. Let’s not sideline the natural for the synthetic without a thorough understanding of what true sustainability entails. It’s time to align our choices with our values. Choose wisely, choose leather. #SustainableMaterials #EcoFriendly #Greenwashing #LeatherVsSynthetic #MaterialScience #EnvironmentalImpact #CircularEconomy #SustainabilityDebate #RecycledMaterials #Biodegradable #NaturalMaterials #LeatherGoods #EthicalFashion #SustainableFashion #EcoInnovation #ResponsibleManufacturing #Craftsmanship #EnvironmentalConservation #SustainableLiving #CorporateResponsibility #EcoConscious Apple

In our pursuit of beauty, we often overlook the less glamorous aspect of the industry: its environmental impact. From creams and serums to lipsticks and mascaras, the beauty industry produces an abundance of packaging, much of which ends up in landfills or our oceans. But why is beauty packaging so notoriously difficult to recycle? The first challenge lies in the diverse materials used in packaging. Unlike standard materials like glass or cardboard, beauty products often come in containers made from a variety of materials, including plastic, glass, metal, and even mixed materials like pumps and sprays. This amalgamation makes it challenging for recycling facilities to efficiently process these items, as each material requires different recycling methods. #BeautyPackaging #RecyclingChallenge #SustainableBeauty #GreenBeauty #RecycleBeauty #BeautyIndustry #ReduceReuseRecycle #EnvironmentalImpact #ZeroWasteBeauty #EcoFriendlyPackaging #BeautyWithoutWaste #ConsciousConsumption #RecycleResponsibly #PackagingWaste #SustainableLiving
