One of the largest finance companies in Australia today contacted me for a Keynote presentation today. I tried to get a discovery but the EA insisted that she had 10 mins to send the price to the board. I reluctantly shared my fee and the board were apparently shocked. The feedback was that another speaker would do it for half the price. Good on them they are probably worth that fee. I wanted to tell them why I cost twice as much but I simply couldn’t. Timing can be a b#%^* tch. When you discount your value, you hurt those that come after you. If you can’t do it for you, raise the ask for those coming behind you. And yes, I declined the opportunity when I was asked to match. We will get them next time around.
