Roundtable: Tighter inventory control, more efficiency, and better tech – retail supply chain 2024 When hosting this event for Retail Gazette and HSO, the key takeaways about the #retail supply chain going into the new year were, as follows: ◾ #Supplychain transformation never stops and it is also at a complex stage, with one attendee saying: “The low hanging fruit of digital transformation in supply chains has been picked – there’s none left.” ◾New leadership strategies are required for retail supply chain success- "the supply chain boss needs a seat at the boardroom table". If you look at Asos's current turnaround/modernisation strategy, it's effectively a supply chain-focused one. ◾The supply chain dichotomy: on one hand the supply chain is more visible than it has ever been (to customers, who now know how it all works and have big expectations) yet most retailers are still not completely clear about their long tail and are embarking on significant projects to increase visibility in order to meet new (mainly ESG-related) regulations and find efficiencies. ◾Tech investment pays off in the long run. Lots of upfront investment in automation etc might seem painful right now, but it can bring savings further down the line. Any further thoughts?

Thanks for the insightful roundup!

Thanks for the insight Ben Sillitoe and totally agree. It all starts with the supply chain and greater upstream visibility is key.
