You guys might disagree but both supporters and opponents of increased density agree that infrastructure enhancements are necessary to accommodate population growth. Effective planning must ensure that schools, public transport, and other community facilities keep pace with housing development. The debate over how to best manage and develop housing to combat the affordability crisis continues to evolve. While the Yes In My Backyard movement advocates for increased housing density, it would seem that a multi-faceted solution may be required to incorporate comprehensive policy adjustments that address both supply and demographic dynamics. To combat racial bias in rental housing, it is crucial for both landlords and tenants to be educated on fair housing laws and practices. Landlords should be encouraged to adopt inclusive policies that promote diversity and equal access to housing for all individuals. Tenants should also be aware of their rights and feel empowered to report any instances of discrimination they may encounter. Why is there such a pent up demand in our community for affordable housing? It’s relatively to simple explain, but very hard to create the solution. The basic answer is the success that Greenville has seen in becoming a place that people want to live has created a lot of opportunities. Growth is everywhere. But when things get added, something has to be removed. And that has caused the problems with affordable housing. It can’t be built fast enough to meet demands. That’s where we and other proponents of affordable housing are advocating for more solutions and more unique ideas. We are part of this community because we are needed to be part of this community. #affordablehousing #greenvillehousingfund #yeahthatgreenville

Housing remains a privilege, not a right, 80 years after FDR’s call-to-action, writes Kara Young Ponder, PhD. The U.S. housing system’s stringent requirements and lengthy waits for public housing exacerbate homelessness. But, systems that acknowledge housing as a human right are making great progress. Houston has reduced homelessness by 64% using a #HousingFirst model. Countries like Finland, Austria, South Africa, and Scotland have also made strides, showcasing models that guarantee housing rights, promote affordable housing, and strengthen tenant protections. We can learn from these successful models and #EndHomelessness in the US. Read more in this insightful piece published by Chicago Sun-Times. #HousingAccess #TenantProtections

In contrast to site-built homes, manufactured homes are built in a factory, then transported in one or more segments and installed on a plot of land. Some of these homes are arranged in park communities. About 6.7 million US households live in manufactured homes. “Manufactured housing could help with the housing supply shortage, especially at the low-cost end, which I think is the hardest part.” – Eileen Divringi, community development research manager at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Read our latest blog for more on these efficient, inexpensive, and in-demand units and how they’re building and empowering residents. https://bit.ly/4cMtMk4 #AffordableHousing #ManufacturedHomes #CommunityDevelopment
