I was honored to have been asked to speak alongside Ken Richard today for UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law's Legal Profession course. We spoke for the better part of an hour, but somehow ended on the high note of promising to find the students who didn't send us messages here on LinkedIn after watching the recording of the call. Here's probably what I should have ended with instead: "Ken is in the cohort before mine. We might have had classes together, but we did not formally meet until a Learn-on-Location immersion course. I hadn't known much about Ken other than he was moving to Colorado around the time I was moving away and that he feels strongly about the Barn3.0. Today, Ken and I spoke about our career paths, and Ken has quite the background. (In the best possible meaning.) Just like I never fail to be surprised at the caliber of individuals associated with my law school, my imposter syndrome never fails to show up when I'm alongside them. But here is what I've learned in the past year about imposter syndrome. Even successful, experienced attorneys battle imposter syndrome. I was surprised to learn that. Imposter syndrome is based on faulty assumptions, the chief among them is that our worth is tied to a number. In case you needed to hear this, we are not defined by the number in our bank account, the number of years of experience we have, the number of clients we have, the number on the scale, the number of degrees we have, the number of letters behind our name, the number of followers, the numbers of our zip code, or the numbers on the credit report. I have learned that even attorneys need to do the difficult work of getting their mindset right. Here is my tip: When you forget where your worth comes from, remind yourself of the real help you are to the clients you serve. Attorneys have the awesome opportunity to serve people in some of the biggest moments in their lives. We cannot change their moment, but we can be the client's advocate and counselor when we're needed the most. That mindset will likely serve you better than tips on LinkedIn." Also, Ken and I should take our show on the road! I had a great time talking entrepreneurship. #lawschool #entrepreneurship #mindsetshift

I firmly believe in the power of facing challenges head-on as they are the stepping stones to growth. Whether it's in business, fitness, or your personal life, pain and struggle are an integral part of the journey. Get comfortable with the discomfort because that's the biggest catalyst for growth. And remember: success is not a smooth road, but its bumps and hurdles only make the finish line even more rewarding. So, buckle up, don’t give up, work hard, and you will get there! For 11 years, I’ve run my own consulting firm and have rarely told the full story of how it came to be. The short DE origin story is that I got tired of being told no and wanted to create a place where I could leverage my diverse talents, skills, and interests. The long story is a lot more complex which for the first time ever, you can read here. “My Entrepreneurial Journey: The Origin of Diplomatic Enterprises” is that story and I’m proud to share it. Read. Share. Enjoy. #SmallBusiness #Consulting #Branding #Legal https://lnkd.in/e6mmppzZ

Helping lawyers delegate their way to freedom @Get Staffed Up | Protecting honest business owners from getting legally screwed @Trembly Law | EO SoFlo | Speaker | Best Selling Author: 24 Months to Freedom
Have you ever paused to reflect on how your own decisions shape your reality? It's not the economy, the current president, or any other external factor holding you back—it's the choices you make every day. We all have the same 24 hours, but how you decide to spend them makes the difference. ⏳ The key difference between you and someone who is where you want to be is in how they spend their time. As an entrepreneur or a law firm owner, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks. But why are you spending your valuable time as your own assistant or billing clerk? Fear often holds us back. I was terrified to hire someone when I started my law firm. I didn't know where the money would come from, and even when I had the money, the fear of losing it kept me from hiring the help I needed. It's a paradox: you need to hire to make more money, but fear stops you. The toughest thing to admit is that we're often terrified of loss and what others think. We convince ourselves and everyone around us that we have the law firm we want. But deep down, if you're brave enough to admit it, you're not where you want to be because you're making fear-based decisions. You’re afraid of what people are going to say if you try to grow your law firm and fail so not doing something about it seems to be a “safer” plan. Are you making decisions out of fear or love? If so, how do you plan to shift from fear-based decisions? I’d love to hear your experiences and let others know these feelings are more common than we think.👇👇 P.S. If you want the full video on How to Overcome Your Fear of Failure comment FEAR and I’ll share it with you! ♻️Share with your network if they need to hear this #leadership #entrepreneurship #mindset #lawyer #goals

Nothing about where I am at in my professional career is due to luck. Law school graduate. Decorated attorney. Law firm owner. Business coach. Published author. This all took, yes, a LOT of belief in myself – but more so it took strategic action. It took me stepping back from what I believed I needed to do. It took me putting my ego on the back burner. It took me putting faith into OTHER PEOPLE to help me grow further, faster. It took me doing the work so that I could enjoy the time and money freedom I have now. A lot of sacrifice goes into living the dream. But it’s all a reminder that where you are is a product of your past intentions. & where you’ll be next?? That will be shaped by what you choose to do today. I sure as hell hope you make it worth your while. #businessgrowth #entrepreneurship #businessowner #takeaction

Planning, Protecting, and Preserving Your Legacy ✨️ Expert Legal Counsel🔹️Legacy Planning Specialist🔹️Leadership Executive President at The PuLSE Institute. Principal Attorney at Patterson Justice Counsel, PLLC.
🚨 🗣 Everything is valuable; Nothing is wasted! ‼️ EVER! I began my career as a Federal Government Attorney for the United States of America. 🇺🇸 Almost immediately, I was sent for training at headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia, right outside of our nation's capital, Washington DC. 🏛 I trained there for two weeks, still the longest I've ever been away from my daughter, who was only 1 year old at the time. The picture below is from that training mission in 2014, during my rare free time where I spent my only weekend there exploring the history, beauty, and legacy of DC. I stayed in that role, advising and writing opinions for judges across the country, for two years before I left to open my own private practice. 🏢 That was nearly 8 years ago. 🗓 I've been in business so long (a blessing in itself) that I sometimes forget I had such valuable career experience with the most powerful entity in the world! 🌎 But guess what? 🤔 Life always comes full circle. 🔵 Now, not only do I get to use that experience helping clients in my business, but I get to use it to teach and train the next generation of professionals to serve their clientele as well. Full announcement coming soon, but for now, just remember that ALL of you is valuable and worthwhile. 💎 Even the past parts you forget about (or may not wish to remember). 💯 If you believe, it's ALL WORKING together for your GOOD. 🤝🏽 #WisdomWednesday #BusinessDevelopment #BusinessOwner #Attorney #Legacy #USA #Entrepreneur #Empowerment #Entrepreneurship #LawFirmOwner #LawFirmLeader #EstatePlanning #EstatePlanningAttorney #NextGeneration #GenerationalWealth #Leadership #History #LawFirm #DC

How much difference can a CEO make? I'm just back home from our annual convention. I have never been so proud to be part of this incredible company. Our new CEO, Warren Schlichting, has brought back the feelings of belonging to something bigger, the feelings of being a family, and the desire to build lasting relationships. If you have ever wanted any of the following, please ASK ME for more information: 💲 a worthy side-gig that has a meaningful purpose 📖 to own your book of business ⏱ to work your own hours 🥇 to be recognized for your hard work 💰 to build residual income that will outlive you 🙌 to have a solid team of support every step of the way ❤️ to work with people who care about you ✅ and many more reasons... We have been in business for 52 years! How many businesses can say that? I watched hundreds of people I have known for years walk across the stage, receive bonus checks, and be recognized for their achievements. It's not easy, but seeing people get the help they need every day is worth it. ********** Just this week, I needed a contract reviewed. The contract was not executed in the State of Texas, so my attorney could not review it. That wasn't the end of it. The contract has been sent to the Delaware law firm, and an attorney from the Delaware law firm will review it and get back to me next week. The cost is ZERO, because contract review is part of my monthly membership. ********** DREAM BIGGER! I have a purpose I believe in every single day. Are you passionate about your business or job? Do you get up every day excited about the difference you make in people's lives? 🔔🔔 Reach out to learn how to protect your family, business, and employees.
