You don't have to do it all on your own. Actually, scratch that... You SHOULDN’T do it all on your own. I'm a broken record when it comes to the importance of building your community as a new parent resuming work post parental leave. Isolation is one of the key factors that can lead new parents to #burnout. Feeling like no one understands what you're going through, that you can't speak up about your struggles, or even that others are doing way better than you, makes matters much worse when you’re already exhausted or stressed out. So here are 3 sources from which to build a solid support network, both in the private and professional sphere: 👉 Supportive colleagues: Reach out to coworkers who are also parents or who have experience balancing work and family life. They can offer valuable insights and advice, and potentially serve as mentors or allies as you navigate your return to work. Your organisation might have a parent-specific ERG (Employee Resource Group). They’re a brilliant way to connect with other parents at work. 👉 In-person or online support groups: Explore social media groups, in-person or virtual meetups, and workshops for parents returning to work. These communities can be a great way to connect with others outside of your organisation and provide a safe space to share insights, resources and emotional support. This can be particularly helpful if there are topics that you’re not fully comfortable bringing up at work. 👉 Perinatal professionals: Perinatal care practitioners, such as doulas (👋Alix, Diane), lactation or sleep consultants (👋 Rosalie), and therapists or coaches specialising in perinatal wellbeing, can offer expertise, emotional support and practical assistance tailored to the needs of new parents. They’re also a great resource to provide referrals and connections to other specialised care professionals. If it takes a village to raise a child, then it takes another one to support the ones who are doing the raising. Especially if they juggle it with work. So start building your village as soon as you can, and don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed. #workingmom #workingparents #maternityleave #paternityleave #parentalleave #coaching #selfdevelopment #wellbeing #mentalhealth #futureofwork #remotework #flexiblework #womenintech #diversity #inclusion

Asking for support is never easy. Yet it’s one of the most powerful ways for working new parents to care for their wellbeing (and, in turn, the wellbeing of their family). There are many reasons that can prevent parents from asking for help. Here are the ones I hear most often in my coaching practice: 👉 “I believe that moms are supposed to do it all” 👉 “I’m afraid of criticism” 👉 “I don’t know how” 👉 “I don’t want to appear weak” 👉 “It’s hard for me to let go of control” 👉 “I have to appear perfect” 👉 “I’m used to putting others’ needs before my own” Those reasons are all valid, but refraining from asking for support and doing it all on your own can have dire consequences on your mental health and general wellbeing in the long run. Does this sound familiar? #workingmom #workingparents #maternityleave #paternityleave #parentalleave #coaching #selfdevelopment #wellbeing #mentalhealth #futureofwork #remotework #flexiblework #womenintech #diversity #inclusion ______ I am Cathy, I help new parents go on parental leave and return to work with ease, purpose and confidence. Being a parent of a neurodivergent child is both rewarding and challenging. These parents often juggle multiple roles and face unique struggles that are often overlooked in the workplace. It’s essential that we create environments that offer not only support for neurodivergent individuals but also accommodations for the parents who are guiding them. Why this matters: - 39% of individuals in the workforce report having a neurodivergent child - Many employers still lack accommodations for caregivers of neurodivergent children - Parental support is key to creating a work-life balance that allows parents to thrive personally and professionally. Let's start conversations about workplace policies that support caregivers—flexible hours, mental health resources, and an inclusive culture that recognizes the challenges parents face. Join us #TheAriImpact in advocating for workplaces that consider the whole person, not just their professional identity. Share how your organization can do more to support families navigating neurodiversity. #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplaces #SupportParents #AutismAwareness #TheAriImpact

Giving your employees access to a personal assistant to help with their personal and family tasks does more than just give them time back. Because doing a task is more than just the doing of the task. And the mental load of a working parent is more than just mental. As with most things in parenthood, it's a lot, it's complicated, and it's all intertwined. What most employers don't realize is that when you give your employees someone to delegate their personal to-do list to, it does more than just keep them focused at work. It also alleviates the mental and emotional stress and helps them to feel better - at work and at home. #caregiver #caregiverburnout #caregiversupport #workingmom #workingparent #defaultparent #mom #mentalload #personalassistant #virtualassistant #familyassistant #employeebenefits #employeeretention #womenintheworkplace #caregiverretention

Happy Social Work Month! This year's theme is Empowering Social Workers. I want to empower my social work tribe seek mental health assistance. Here are some additional ways to empower your social work tribe to seek therapy: ✅ Normalize therapy: Openly discuss the benefits of therapy during team meetings or workshops. Share success stories of social workers who have used therapy to enhance their practice. ✅ Reduce stigma: Address any potential concerns about seeking therapy. Emphasize that therapy is a sign of strength and dedication to professional development. ✅ Provide resources: Compile a list of local therapists specializing in trauma or working with helping professionals. Explore the possibility of offering Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) that cover therapy sessions. ✅ Flexible scheduling: Consider offering flexible scheduling options to accommodate therapy appointments. This demonstrates an understanding of the challenges of balancing work and self-care. ✅ Lead by example: If you've had positive experiences with therapy, share them with your team. This can inspire others to consider therapy as a valuable tool. Creating a supportive environment and providing resources can empower social workers to prioritize their well-being. This will benefit social workers and enhance the quality of care we provide to our clients. During my talk at The Lighthouse in Dorset, I clarified the benefits of Access to Work, a program that supports individuals with health conditions, disabilities and those who are neurodivergent. While I personally don’t view my neurodivergence as a disability, it falls under this scheme, providing vital support that can be tailored to our unique needs, whether we're employees or self-employed. Understanding and utilising this support can make a significant difference in managing our conditions and enhancing our work life. I It's crucial to recognise that everyone's needs are beautifully unique, and so the support must be customised to fit these individual requirements. #employeeengagement #careerconfidence #careeradvancement #neurodiverse #careermotivation #careercoachforwomen #careergoals #corporatecoach #acccesstoworkcoach #careercoach #selfdoubt #neurodivergentcoach #productivity #confidence #personalgrowth #dyslexiccoach #increaseconfidence #careercoachingtips #careercoaching #neurodiversewomen

A huge part of parenting is learning to shift your perception—from control to connection, from pressure to presence. It's about re-parenting yourself while raising your child, which can feel overwhelming at times - so if you can relate, please know you're not alone. But here's the good news: it doesn’t need to be. It all starts with one small shift in your intention. What's one small shift you can begin to make? ⬇️ And remember, these shifts in how you think and respond, don’t just apply to your kids—they apply to YOU and the other adults in your life too. You don't need to get it perfect, and it doesn't all need to happen at once. One small shift at a time. #workingparents #workingfamiles #parentingcoach 🙋🏻♀️I’m Natalie and I’ve coached over 40K children and thousands of families 🙋🏻♀️I help companies support the wellbeing of their working parents to thrive at home and at work. 🙋🏻♀️supporting your parents at work increases productivity, reduces absenteeism and improves wellbeing -which is a win-win for all! 📧Drop me a message to find out how you can look after your workforce and support the talent that you have
