I wasn’t bowled over, but I had a few laughs at the #superbowl ads. The CeraVe spot with Michael Cera was the clear winner in my head. But, everybody's already talking about that. My slightly left of field pick for funniest spot of the Super Bowl is the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups one. I loved it for the following reasons: -It was genuinely funny. It was totally off the wall and wild, but it had some really great gags in it like the woman jumping out, and back in through the window, each time having more bandages. Got me chuckling. -Secondly, it was was written excellently to appear in a 30" spot. I could be wrong, but I don’t think it had a QR code to a website, a teaser campaign, or a 2 minute version to watch elsewhere. Sometimes it’s just nice to see something created solely for where it’s going to appear. Saying that, it does have rewatchability, it gets funnier with each view. -Finally, it didn't need a celebrity. It didn't need Beyonce, Chris Pratt, Arnie, or even Danny DeVito jumping in and out of the window to make it standout. I'm not saying Danny DeVito jumping in and out of a window wouldn't be funny, but it didn't need him! That's my thoughts anyway. Next year I'd love to see a few less celebrities, and a few less ad within an ad gags too. #advertising #brandedcomedy #funnyads
