The role they, civil society organisations, play is even more important and visible in crisis, conflict and post conflict states.
Civil society can make a crucial difference in people's lives. It's essential to bring lived experiences from communities to the discussion table and channel the voice of the marginalized as a way for them to claim and defend their right to education. GPE's Tanvir Muntasim explains how Education Out Loud supports civil society in over 60 countries, driving sustainable change in education: http://g.pe/c3C850RHk3T #FundEducation

Advocating for the employment of more social workers in schools is vital as Teacher Ashley Buson Rodriguez has pointed out in the article below. Social workers in schools play a crucial role in providing support to families and children who have experienced trauma by offering crisis counseling and connecting them to community resources. It is imperative to hire more social workers to ensure the well-being of school communities #schoolsocialwork #schoolsocialworker #education #mentalhealth #youthmentalhealth
“Unfortunately, it feels like we are failing [recent arrivals] the minute they walk through our school doors,” writes Ashley Busone Rodriguez, a third grade teacher in New York City.

We need any incoming government to commit to a minimum four-hour arts entitlement within the school week. All children and young people should be able to benefit from the learning, personal and social development made possible by arts subjects and experiences. We need urgent action to reverse the current crisis we are facing in cultural education. Read our Manifesto Asks: https://buff.ly/3WXLyMY

Reconciliation SA are excited to announce that Education, action, and change: an anti-racism resource for schools and preschools is now live. The resource will empower teachers and educators to have tricky conversations about the racism that uniquely impacts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The goal is to ensure that teachers and educators can navigate conversations about racism confidently and sensitively ensuring the safety and awareness of the next generation. Divided into 3 parts, the resource provides a blueprint for teachers and educators to understand and address racism. Part one, education, outlines racism and its impacts. Part two, action, addresses the actions someone can take to combat racism and have necessary conversations. Part three, change, provides suggestions for changes teachers and educators can make to dismantle racism in education. Reconciliation SA are grateful to all contributors and sponsors of this important project, with special thanks to BHP and the Department for Education, South Australia To download your free copy, head to https://hubs.li/Q02rNbjb0

Apropos children missing education, BBC News report on the impact on families of children unable to cope in school gives a narrative behind the figures we see often. In case-studying the experiences of a few families. and researching the views of mothers (not sure why only mothers) it's easy to see the cumulative effect of a poor education experience and how that impacts other people, and other lives. We are a long way from a well balanced education system that accommodates difference, that values inclusion and gives a place in society to all its citizens. To do so, we need that diversity in our education system, in each locality, so that every child and young person feels wanted, valued and loved. https://lnkd.in/enppM7hQ
