Desk officer / External Auditor bij European Commission

EU citizens want to safeguard animals against their keeping and killing only for fur production. Today the European Commission issued an official reply to the European citizens’ initiative (ECI) ’Fur Free Europe’, backed by more than 1.5 million citizens. As a first step the Commission requested EFSA to provide by March 2025 a scientific opinion on the welfare of animals farmed for fur, to take an informed decision. Based on the outcome, the EC will communicate by March 2026 its decision on banning the animal keeping and killing for fur production. Alternatively, it would adopt appropriate standards to improve and preserve the welfare of animals. Read the full reply here: https://europa.eu/!Cw9JQ6 #EUTakeTheInitiative
