We’re excited to launch a new Friday Series where we’ll explore each layer of the OSI Model and its role in network security. The OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) Model is fundamental to understanding how data travels across networks, and over the coming weeks, we’ll be breaking down its seven layers to help you better protect your organisation’s infrastructure. First up is the Physical Layer, where we’ll discuss common threats like hardware theft and environmental risks, as well as best practices for safeguarding your network’s physical components. #SyscommSecure #OSIModel #PhyscialLayer #IT

In an increasingly digital world, where modern systems allow for efficient tracking and management of resources, particularly in conflict zones, the reliability of technology cannot always be guaranteed. Despite the availability of satellite internet systems, disruptions such as hacking, system failures, or damaged infrastructure have become more common. As someone who advocates for technological advancements, I also recognize the critical need for hard copies of essential documents like stock cards. These hard copies serve as a crucial backup, ensuring that operations can continue and decisions can be made even in the face of unexpected technological failures. Having these physical records on hand is not just a precaution, but a necessary part of contingency planning in today's unpredictable environment #HumanitarianResilience #ContingencyPlanning #DataSecurity #HardCopyEssentials #DigitalReliability #DisasterPreparedness

Excellent article by Kaspersky on how Polish ethical hackers investigated and broke the "DRM" in Impuls 45WE trains. The trains in question contained malicious code from the manufacturer that (among other things) automatically immobilized trains that had spent time at competing third-party repair shops. Companies like Apple already use "hardware DRM" to stifle third-party repairs, but this case is especially egregious because it applies to public infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/gdcsebMr You can also watch the incredibly thorough talk by the team on how they accomplished this: https://lnkd.in/gFT_Jbiu This video is downloadable DRM-free.
