QAR has made all the headlines when it comes to financial services reform, but the ALRC has been conducting an important review of financial services legislation at the same time. The review has made 58 recommendations, analysing over 10 million pages of documents across the various Acts, court judgements, regulatory guides and legislation compilations. The inquiry found that financial services legislation is unnecessarily complex and the 58 recommendations are aimed at simplifying legislation, in particular the corporations act, to be easier to navigate, interpret and apply.
