We won gold!
We’re proud of the Bain Capital Dragon Boat Team for capturing gold at the annual Boston Dragon Boat Festival earlier this month. Twenty colleagues competed in this 2,000-year-old tradition of dragon boat racing and dedicated significant time in preparation for the event.
In a gesture of good luck to all 68 teams and race participants, Ricky Sun represented us during the opening ‘eye-dotting ceremony’.
For the Race Directors and Event Managers who see this, either in Canada or the U.S. - make sure you tune into this Webinar next week (details and registration link below) hosted by Running USA on the growth that has been going on in Running but also generally in Endurance Sports, and how you can tap into the strategies, some of the best people in the business are using, to push that growth and manage it!

IMPRESSIVE to see this Dragon Boat team going full speed into the turn without a scratch! 🚣♂️
Dragon Boat racing is a perfect analogy for competing in the business world.
A high-performing team requires getting the RIGHT PEOPLE on board and in the RIGHT SEATS, getting the wrong people off the boat, working to get everyone ALIGNED and HARMONIZED, and giving it your all to fight for a common goal. 👊
Just don't be the guy at the back of the boat with your paddle down the whole time, creating unnecessary drag! 😂
✍ What are your strategies in developing high-performing teams?
♻ Reshare if this resonates.

🚵♂️ Conquering the Toughest Mountain Bike Track: Red Bull Hardline 2024 🚵♂️
Have you ever watched a downhill mountain bike race?
It’s like witnessing a symphony of adrenaline, precision, and pure courage.
☝ Picture this: riders hurtling down super hard slopes, navigating rock gardens, drops, and jumps with the finesse of ballet dancers. Their bikes become extensions of their bodies, and every twist and turn is a high-stakes gamble🎢.
A few days ago the Red Bull Hardline race took place in an amazing Welsh mountainside - The track, which is considered as one of the toughest downhill mountain bike races in the world.
Now, let’s shift gears from the Welsh mountainside to the boardroom 💼. Business, like mountain biking, demands focus, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing terrain. Here’s where I see the parallel inspiration in our professional lives:
▶ Fearless Commitment: Fear of failure can paralyze us, but the Hardline riders remind us that calculated risks are essential for growth.
▶ Precision Matters: A slight miscalculation on the track can lead to disaster. In business, attention to detail is equally critical.
▶ Adaptability: The Hardline course changes every year, challenging riders to adapt. Same with business and in life. Staying agile and open to new strategies ensures we stay ahead of the curve.
▶ Mindfulness: On that mountain, there’s no room for distractions. Riders are fully present, focused on the next obstacle. Being in the moment—enhances decision-making and reduces stress.
▶ Teamwork: Behind every rider is a team—mechanics, coaches, and fellow riders. In business, this is our secret weapon. Together with team, we conquer the toughest trails 😉 .
So, next time we’re navigating our business challenges, lets channel our inner Hardline champion 😎 .
Success isn’t about avoiding obstacles; it’s about conquering them with style. 🏆🔥
Enjoy watching the amazing winning ride. 2,5 min. of pure adrenaline.
Ronan Dunne, the double champion, shows what it means to ride the edge and emerge victorious! 🎥👇

𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, Mark Cavendish's recent triumph is nothing short of extraordinary.
I woke up this morning to the stunning news that Cavendish had won the sprint stage in the Tour de France. For cycling enthusiasts, this is thrilling, and for those unfamiliar, it's a story worth knowing. Cavendish exemplifies how to thrive through adversity. As I tried to explain to my wife, there were tears in my eyes. I am sure she was thinking, "What on earth, it's only cycling." But the effect on me of this win is mind blowing.
At 39, after crashing out of the 2023 Tour de France during the 8th stage and equaling the record for the most stage wins, he faced an uncertain future. Retiring in 2023, he defied expectations by planning a comeback for the 2024 Tour. Many doubted his chances due to his age and the quality of the competition, but today, he proved them wrong.
His victory is a testament to hard work, tenacity, and the power of a dedicated team. It's a reminder that with the right support, relentless effort, and unwavering perseverance, we can achieve remarkable things.
In business, we often talk about grit and staying power. Cavendish's journey is a powerful reminder of why we push forward, why we persevere, and how teamwork can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
I cut a 1-minute clip on Sky News' YouTube channel that highlights their race strategy, the team's effort, and their ability to adapt when plans went astray. It's really showcases their preparation, adaptability and resilience.
Also, what was funny was earlier in the race, one of the commentators was joking about Mark at the side of the road. He was adjusting the handlebars by a 1mm. He said thats Mark in the zone, when he is doing this, he is at his best. Picky, all about details, looking for perfection. This then gives him the confidence. Little did he know how right he was.
Mark's journey, through depression, failure, and successes, for me is incredibly inspiring. He just keeps pushing on, and that determination is something I deeply admire.

When I first met Ben Johnson at SailGP with Sam Galet at the IMG offices in NYC with Chelsea Shewchuk and Nathan Pillai there was no question that this league was uniquely positioned to lead in both growth and innovation. Specifically in #web3 for the needs I outlined. Nothing else made sense when you evaluated SailGP. Not even Formula 1 like so many other jumped into.
The relationships in this business are unique and strategic. The business model was streamlined. And the approach to sustainability was focused (like PoS blockchains compared to PoW).
The innovations with T-Mobile For Business, Oracle, NEAR Protocol, Algorand Technologies (via Fred Pye and Canada SailGP Team), and so many others are pushing the bounds of what’s possible in sports and influencing sustainable outcomes with folks like Parley for the Oceans and Cyrill Gutsch.
I hope you give a look under the hood and download the SailGP app to engage with ‘The Dock’ - it’ll make you a sailing fan… even if you don’t want to own a boat.

Do your research in Fast Company, BARONS, CoinDesk, Decrypt, Time Inc., and so many other outlets.
Number 5!! SailGP named one of Fast Company Most Innovative Companies of 2024 for “transcendening sports” by building with purpose and reimagining fandom.
“bringing sustainability to racing sports, reimagining both coverage and competition to reduce its carbon footprint—just one of this year’s companies whose contributions could transcend sport itself.”
Congratulations to the whole team, the awesome-inspiring athletes and all of our bold partners!

While in Miami 🌴, we arranged a meeting with the legendary Adrián Fernández and our rocketship Marco Romero at Adrian’s office/museum. We strongly believe in the collaboration of all generations in motorsports to ensure the continued growth of the sport. 🏁✨
In F1 🏎️ it takes the pit crew 2.29 seconds (on average) to change 4 tyres. For Ferrari, they got this down to 2.1 seconds. Google this for the video, it’s inspiring.
In F1 it’s ’we before me’. Everyone knows their role, everyone remains accountable and everyone shares the same goal. These are high performing teams.
Using the F1 analogy, we held a workshop with the Jammers on what it takes to be a high performing team. Facilitated by David Crawford we took an interactive approach to what we all think constitutes high performance and, together as a team, created a plan to enhance our own performance as an agency. We came away with a clear action plan and I’m excited for what we can achieve as we work through our plan 💫
Keeping with the F1 analogy we finished the session with a team go-karting experience. Not quite F1 but the way some Jammers handled those karts they’d give Verstappen a run for his money 💨
A great day all round. And I beat David Gee on the tracks so it was extra special 🤣🙌🏼

Earlier this week, the Jammers cranked up the heat and hit the track in true style 🔥
Fresh off a game-changing 'F1 Pit Crew' workshop with David Crawford, we took teamwork to a whole new level. The workshop provided valuable insights into how high-performing teams operate efficiently to deliver extraordinary results. Much like how a pit crew nail a tyre change in seconds, a key focus of the workshop looked at how perfectly synchronised teamwork and integrated processes can deliver seamless success.
Naturally, we put this theory to the test with some lightning-fast racing 🏎️ The competitive streaks came out in full force, and it's safe to say, we might not be ready for the Monaco Grand Prix just yet, but we did have a blast 🏆
