Mojo Odiase, Consultant, Berlin 🏃 "I’m not naturally a runner. I’ve always played sports, but I had never even run a 10k race before I signed up for my first El Cruce challenge in 2022. During the pandemic, it was harder to do team sports, so I was looking for something else to keep me in shape. One day, I saw an email sent to the London office about a 100 km race called El Cruce in Argentina, that looked unmissable. Together with a colleague from the London office, I decided to undertake the challenge. ⛰️ Upon arrival to Argentina, we were welcomed by Federico Eisner, the Partner in Buenos Aires who was responsible for coordinating the ~100-person global group of Bainies taking part in the challenge. He was incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home. The race itself was equal parts beautiful and brutal. The highs included some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen. The lows, injuries, and changeable mountain weather, that at times made us question our life choices. 🏁 My preparation for the challenge next year was disrupted by knee issues. I went into the 2023 edition of the race apprehensive but determined to find a way to finish. By some miracle, my knee held up on day 1, but by day 2 the lack of preparation caught up with me and the kilometers became slow and painful. I remember spending what seemed like hours with 2 members of the Bain group from London that were similarly physically compromised. We took turns leading the group, allowing the other two to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. Reaching the finish line together was special, and the pain mostly melted away, even though function of our legs took a little longer to return. 💡 In addition to giving me lifelong memories, running El Cruce taught me more about the power of perseverance, preparation, and teamwork. It has encouraged me to embrace new challenges; completing the race revealed to me that when we push our limits and support each other, we can achieve far more than we ever imagined." #atBain

Mojo! So many of us never would have even considered participating in El Cruce without your encouragement and leadership. Always an inspiration!

Inspiring for runners and non-runners alike! Thank you for sharing your story.
