A Fiery Farewell: NASA Selects SpaceX to Decommission ISS The International Space Station (ISS), a beacon of international collaboration, is nearing retirement. To ensure a safe disposal, NASA has chosen SpaceX to design a deorbit vehicle to guide the ISS into a controlled re-entry over the Pacific Ocean in the 2030s. This process will target a fiery breakup in the atmosphere, minimizing risks to populated areas. The ISS is set for EOL in 2030. New space station ops like Axiom Space, Gravitics Inc, BLUE ORIGIN / Sierra Space and Voyager Space are leaping on the opportunities ahead! Blue Origin is developing the Orbital Reef space station with Sierra Space and other companies - now set to receive an increase of $42 million to its original $130 million award. Voyager Space, (partnered with Airbus Defence and Space to develop the Starlab station), received $57.5 million additional funding on its $160 million award.
