Data Scientist | Python & Data Analytics | Co-founder of non-profit - Innovate My World| on the journey from teaching Math to pursuing a Masters in Data Science with a focus in Machine Learning
This was an amazing panel yesterday. Some key takeaways: 1. do not underestimate your transitional skills-what have you done in your past role that transfers to a new role in tech... 2. "Get T'd up' - in addition to having a wide breadth of knowledge, go deep in some areas. 3. be data driven (qualitative and quantitative) and document your accomplishments Thanks so much for all of the insight!
Tomorrow I’ll be leading a "Transitioning into Non-Technical Roles in the Tech Sector." The lineup of rockstar speakers includes Lea H, Ph.D, LMHC, NCC, Senior UX Researcher at YearUp, Mark Mosley, Customer Success Manager at ServiceNow, and Amanda Jackson, Senior Technology Auditor at Comcast. "Demonstrate your team's value..." "Show the impact of your work..." "Calculate your research ROI..." These and many other statements have been on the minds of many #UX pros the past few years. Layoffs, reductions, reorgs...folks are—and have been—feeling the effects of the market's recent evolutions. The logic behind these statements seems sound enough: if I we make our work indispensable to the company, then we'll be in a stronger position to retain and grow our place. But how? I've asked a few friends (Carol Guest, Devin Harold, Vanessa Van Schyndel, and Tyler Medina) working on answering those questions to share their experiences and learnings at YouX next week. They've done things like: --> Inventoried company structures to discover impact opportunities --> Identified stakeholders who have org-wide influence over priorities --> Created a research strategy linking their work to company goals --> Educated colleagues on what research can (and can't) "do" They've worked with devs, data science, design, product, and executives teams. They know that feeling of urgency that can make our jobs feel like double work (doing the work and then defending it). They'll share what clicked for them and how they approach their research practices differently today. I can't promise *the* answers, but some practical-and-tactical things to try. Join them (and me!) next week at YouX, by User Interviews. (i'll drop the registration link in the comments below ⤵ )

Having shared a few days ago that I was leaving the lovely team at Substrakt I thought it might be worth posting a little hello and share a little about me and next steps! I'm taking a few weeks after a busy summer with the kids, settling back into the routine of life with little ones (and doing all those jobs I always promise for 'next weekend') but I am keeping half an eye out there on interesting opportunities. That being said, what I am most keen to do is network and learn new things. So, I thought it would be interesting to post a little about me, and see where new conversations, connections and rekindling some old connections might take me! I am a seasoned ticketing system specialist, having worked with Spektrix and Tessitura as a lead admin in multiple medium and large scale venues, and lead procurements and implementations with these systems. I have implemented these systems into Theatres, Museums, large scale outdoor concert venues and country estates. As I moved out of venues, I have continued working with these systems in-depth with their API's and clients all over the UK and North America as a PM, and in my most recent capacity as Delivery Lead. Working with a range of incredibly talented developers we delivered Google/Apple Wallet integrations for Digital Ticketing, Custom Purchase Paths and a fair few interesting TNEW customisations. As well as a wide range of new marketing sites, standard spektrix and TNEW implementations. Why is this relevant I hear you ask? Well for one, I am interested in connecting with people who've done similar roles, in agency or in venue or at the systems themselves, to continue learning and seeing what fun things people are doing. Secondly, putting skills out there, if you or a connection knows of interesting opportunities out there and might want to have a chat about them. And finally, if anyone fancies putting me in touch with others who might fall into either of the groups above! I want to use this break wisely and most importantly productively. Thank in advance for any shares, intro's or recommendations! #tessitura #tessituranetwork #spektrix #artsandculture

I planned to talk about something else today. But during the weekend, I came across numerous posts about layoffs in various companies, and it really hit home. Layoff sucks. Tough times, but I'm here to extend a helping hand. At Fairmatic, we have 5 open positions waiting to be filled: 1. Senior Machine Learning Engineer https://lnkd.in/dpAc-_c6 2. Senior Prduct Designer https://lnkd.in/dyqHhv-j 3. Whether you need help polishing your CV, navigating the job market, or just want some career advice, I'm here to lend a hand in my free time. #layoff #hiring #openpositions #techrecruiting

Excited to share that I’ve joined Luminai to lead the sales team. Luminai helps healthcare companies transform their most burdensome, manual workflows into single-click actions using AI, resulting in improved productivity, lowered errors rates, reduced burnout, and improved patient satisfaction. For me, the “why now?” and “why Luminai?” was very compelling: - Transformative nature of AI in healthcare starting with administrative/“swivel chair” tasks - Significant margin pressures at the end of ZIRP/COVID cash infusions - No client side engineering resources required – ops leaders can control their own destiny - Platform agnostic, operating on top of the existing tech stack - All PHI data stays local – so no data and privacy concerns - An amazing team! I’m excited for the year ahead! If you’re thinking about driving efficiency within your operations across RCM, clinical ops/provider ops, patients ops/customer service, etc, please reach out. We’re also #hiring across BizOps, Sales, Customer Success, ML Engineering, and Deployment Engineering (https://lnkd.in/gCsTPYNs).

Reflecting on my first 3 months as a UX designer on the Innovation team at Dell Technologies, I have a few key learnings to share. 1. Embracing Change: Perhaps the most exciting aspect of my role has been the constant flux of change. Rather than viewing it as an obstacle, I've come to see change as the best challenge I could ask for. Each new project, team or pivot in direction presents an opportunity to push boundaries and think creatively. 2. Community: The innovation space at Dell is truly a melting pot of ideas and expertise. Being immersed in an environment where ideas are constantly generated and refined has been incredibly stimulating. 3. Adapt, Adopt, Apply: In this fast-paced environment and new technologies like AI augmentations coming in every day, flexibility is key. As new technologies and design trends emerge, adopting new methodologies, and applying them to projects has been crucial. I’m grateful to be part of a team that values collaboration and user-driven solutions, driving impactful innovations for a better future. Here’s to more learning and creating together! 🚀 #UXDesign #Innovation #Dell #Growth #Collaboration #iWork4Dell
