#SaturdayRaag "Qissa Kursi ka" - Tale of a Seat This is a phrase that my colleagues used to say a lot in Corporate India. I have worked as part of senior management team both in India and New Zealand, until I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2007. One day, observing how some people get more space than others, I got talking to an old colleague on this, who reminded me of the old saying "Qissa Kursi Ka" - it's a tale of the "chair/seat" we are sitting on. When I was in high profile roles in my advertising & media days, every person wanted to know me. I constantly received invites, awards, public acknowledgement and sometimes gifts during festivities (gifts were never accepted unless they were edible items which would be shared with the team). If ever I behaved arrogantly, my dear mother would very happily remind me that it's all temporary and it was all because of the seat (chair- kursi) that I occupied. It wasn't just because I was an intelligent, smart person. I observe that around me now and I want to be that mama who gently tells her child to be humble, grounded as this is temporary. Use that privilege well - create change, challenge stereotypes, question the wrong. That's when that seat that you are sitting on will be of value. Otherwise it will remain just another self serving tale. Make your kursi (seat) count.

#Itsmessyandweloveit I'm sure many of us have seen "Andaz Apna Apna," a really funny movie from back in the day. I love watching such movies because they help me relax and relieve stress. A few days ago, I was watching it again. As the funny story unfolded, I could relate to the characters and some real-life situations that we all go through. Sharing a few here - # Dream Big, Stay Happy: Even though the characters had big dreams that seemed a bit crazy, they always followed their hearts. It may sound cliché in today’s day and age - not to take life too seriously and to be calm and composed in every situation. keep moving and enjoy the journey. More often than not, trust your gut! Sometimes, It’s OK to be irrational! Sometimes, it's OK to laugh at yourself! # Teamwork always pays off: Always try and find solutions to any problems together and with a smile on. Keep the space around you stress-free and involve everyone in decision-making. I think, staying calm and not stressing out in tough situations gives the best results. Working together in unison is the key to overcoming challenges # Friends Are Important: The friendship between Amar and Prem, the 2 lead characters played by Aamir khan and Salman Khan, and the whole gang's funny interactions, show how valuable friendships and camaraderie can be. Whether personal or professional, we should never undermine the importance of genuine friendships and trust between partners or colleagues even if they have differences in opinion. Trust is the Key. In the end, I just want to reiterate that we all know these important things about life, but sometimes we either forget or ignore them.
