#Poka-#yoke is a #Japanese term that means "#mistake-#proofing". It is a technique used to prevent defects and errors in manufacturing processes. Poka-yoke can be used in a variety of industries, including the automotive industry. One #example of how poka-yoke is used in the #automotive industry is in the assembly of car doors. The door assembly process is a complex one, and there are many opportunities for mistakes to be made. To prevent these mistakes, poka-yoke devices are used to ensure that the doors are properly assembled. For #example, one poka-yoke device prevents the door from being installed if the window is not properly closed. Another poka-yoke device prevents the door from being installed if the door handle is not properly installed. Poka-yoke devices can be simple or complex, but they all have the same goal: to #prevent #defects and #errors. Poka-yoke is a valuable tool for problem-solving in the automotive industry, and it can help to #improvequality and #reducecosts. Here are some other examples of poka-yoke devices used in the automotive industry: * A device that prevents the car from being started if the driver's seat belt is not buckled. * A device that prevents the car from being shifted out of park if the brake pedal is not depressed. * A device that prevents the car from being refueled if the fuel tank is full. Poka-yoke devices can be used to prevent a variety of errors, from simple mistakes to more complex problems. They can help to improve quality, reduce costs, and protect workers from injury #quality #qualityassurance #qualitycontrol #qualitymanagementsystem #continuousimprovement #learninganddevelopment #helpinghands #mistakestoavoid #leansixsigmablackbelt #suppliermanagement #supplychainmanagement

Read these interesting articles 👇 TSB No. 10633: Have you tried installing a new chain on this engine where the engine won't start after installation? Oops! Yes, we are only human. As one of Europe's largest aftermarket hotlines, we can confidently say you are not the only one who has experienced this. Since we see several workshops misunderstanding even the original instructions, we have chosen to create a TSB to make the workshop aware of this common misinterpretation of the OE guidance that many can relate to. TSB No. 10619: SERMI was launched in Denmark, Norway, and Finland on February 1, 2024. Sweden has had SERMI since October 2023. Several European countries will introduce SERMI on April 1, 2024. There have been many speculations about the consequences for SERMI regarding coding via remote, access to technical data, and purchase of SERMI parts. To answer all the questions that most workshops have, we have compiled the answers to these questions in this TSB No. 10619. We will, of course, keep it updated if new measures are introduced. TSB No. 10577: Opel 2009-2015 1.7 CDTi (A17DT*). Who doesn't love a good old troubleshooting on 5V reference voltage with fault codes P0641 or P0651? On this specific model, it is not always the case that the fault can be found in wires or sensors. Read more on my website: https://lnkd.in/e2k5GzPY

OE: Original Equipment Original equipment: refers to tyres which have been developed according to the requirements of a vehicle manufacturer, for a certain model. The vehicle in question is delivered with these tyres. We recommend fitting four of the same tyres, so that the tyres can deliver optimal performance

ARTICLE... Should you even consider offering upgraded parts and services for your braking system repairs? Rob Marshall asks the experts to find out. One would have thought that ECE regulation 90 (R90) would provide clarity about brake friction specifications. Yet, it is far from clear-cut. Some aftermarket brake friction manufacturers view these standards as a target; others use them as a springboard. The Alliance Automotive Group’s parts brand, ‘NAPA,’ for instance, sets higher standards. Its adhesive bond testing between its pad backing plates and the friction material is tested at double the force levels required by legislation. The firm then adds a further 50 complementary and preventative tests over those required by R90. This gives some explanation as to why braking performance differs so much between brake friction components. https://lnkd.in/eecFwPxX

Is this the swan song for aftermarket tooling? We've seen a lot of warning signs over the past few years from lawsuits to the slowing down or removal of updates. It's now getting harder to repair a wide range of manufacturers and vehicle repairs with aftermarket tooling. At the end of the day, these tools are great for quick, general work, but they're becoming less reliable as the manufacturers become more litigious and vehicles become more complex. At Maverick Diagnostics, we're helping independent workshops become more efficient and gain higher profit margins through using the OEM tooling. Not only does this mean you have the full capabilities of the tooling but it also allows you to charge more for the work as the alternative would be sending it to the dealer - meaning more money in your pocket and quicker turnaround for your customers.

🚗 Let's talk #automotivetesting with LAUDA 🚗 Temperature ✅ Flow accuracy check ✅ But what about time lost due to constantly changing test objects? We've got you covered there, too – with our automated fill and drain system FD 50! The LAUDA Filling and Draining Unit (FD 50) automates a usually very manual process - filling and draining refrigerants from applications. There are a number of benefits to using this unit including; improving test cycle times, reducing downtime, increasing efficiency and above all providing a safer and more consistent process for all. The graphic below shows the connected piping and how the system of process circulator, flow control unit (MID 80), and the fill and drain unit (FD 50) work together. Manual processes can be one of the biggest causes of product recalls. In certain industries, up to 9% of product recalls are attributed directly to human intervention. In the automotive industry, recalls are incredibly disruptive - affecting everything from your brand value to your bottom line. Furthemore, vehicle manufacturing faces increasing regulations in order to guarantee public safety. With more stringent checks and tests, why risk product failure and recall? Minimise the risks with automated testing solutions. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g5jppsPb #efficiency #automation #success #robotics #testing #engineering

When should I change the oil of my vehicle? 🚗 Regularly changing lubricants is essential for automotive maintenance. It's important to follow the vehicle manufacturer's guidelines for replacements to ensure the engine's longevity and optimal performance. It used to be accepted practice to perform an oil change every 3,000 miles but modern lubricants have changed that. Today, many carmakers have recommended oil change intervals of 5,000 to 7,500 miles. Also, if your car requires full-synthetic oil, it could even go as far as 15,000 miles between services. "Five Whys" -- A small technique for Biggest problems The "Five Whys" is a problem-solving technique that involves asking the question "Why?" multiple times (typically five times) to identify the root cause of a problem. It was developed as part of the Toyota Production System and is often associated with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. The goal is to dig deeper to uncover its underlying causes. Here's a simplified example to illustrate how the Five Whys works: Problem Statement: The car won't start. Why? The battery is dead. Why? The alternator is not functioning. Why? The alternator belt has broken. Why? The belt was old and not replaced during routine maintenance. In this example, the fifth "Why" reveals the root cause—failure to replace the old alternator belt during routine maintenance. Effectiveness: The effectiveness of the Five Whys technique depends on how well it is implemented and the context in which it is used. #problemsolving #problemsolvingskills #toyota #5whys #5why #solutions
