What an exciting and productive week it has been with our Advocates for Leadership and Employment and associated nonprofit agencies at the NIB/NAEPB Public Policy Forum! Together we championed employment growth, from insightful panel discussions to public policy training sessions to nearly 120 meetings on Capitol Hill advocating for support of the AbilityOne Program through a mandatory 1% Department of Defense utilization goal. Because of all of you, this event was a huge success! We also want to thank Cincinnati Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired for sponsoring this essential mission. #ChampionEmploymentGrowth

Are you a first responder navigating the day-to-day work in this more than ever challenging profession? Thomas Datro really speaks from the heart, backed by true experience, training, and deep study of policing in America. He takes on the real hard uncomfortable conversations and peels back the layers. You may not agree with everything discussed, you may not like what you hear. But I guarantee it will make you think. I challenge anyone, regardless of background, civilian, #lawenforcement or somewhere in between, to listen to this with an open mind. Sometimes to understand the person, #community or different perspectives on the opposite end of that proverbial table we have to shift our #perspective to a level of opening ourselves to that point of discomfort and openness to see what #changestartshere can benefit all the stakeholders. Those #stakeholders being us, the American #society. Like it or not, we're all in this #together. Don't miss out on this thought-provoking conversation. As family dinners become less frequent, the tradition of "kitchen table talk" is also on the decline, particularly among Black families. This shift has resulted in fewer opportunities for open communication and shared experiences, which historically served as a platform for discussing important topics, including business, finance, and wealth-building. The Good Soil Forum, held in Dallas, TX, aimed to bridge this gap by providing a platform for Black entrepreneurs to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other. The forum featured engaging breakout sessions, inspiring speakers, and a pitch competition, all aimed at fostering a collaborative atmosphere and equipping attendees with the knowledge and resources to navigate a world often stacked against them. The forum's focus on financial literacy and wealth-building is particularly important for Black Americans, who face systemic barriers to financial literacy and economic security. The forum's commitment to fostering a thriving entrepreneurial community is a testament to the power of community and the importance of open communication in achieving financial success. What are your thoughts on the role of family dinners and kitchen table talks in fostering financial literacy and wealth-building? Do you believe that more emphasis should be placed on these conversations in today's fast-paced society? Read the full story by Marlissa Collier and check out our coverage of this week's e-edition at dallasweekly.com #iamdw #blackpress #goodsoilforum #blackentrepreneurs #kitchentabletalk #financialwellbeing #wealthbuilding

CONFLICT PREVENTION: VICE-PRESIDENT CANDIDATES TIM WALZ VS J. VANCE https://lnkd.in/gbwHeHZz Republicans are like bullfighters; they abuse and bully the victim until it is within reach of the blade, but Dems should not let themselves be corralled. Learn the dance! The US is transitioning regarding one of the most critical historical events, which has profound implications for the world order. https://lnkd.in/gYR6jXQd The Republicans have a man who reflects their values. After graduating from Middletown High School, Vance joined the US Marine Corps, where he served from 2003 to 2007 as a non-combative correspondent, including a six-month deployment in the public affairs department in Iraq. He is not a combatant. Vance is also a non-combatant marine. His intolerance, meanness, backwardness and intolerance can be terrifying. https://lnkd.in/gu7ZB-Cz Timothy James Walz was born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska, to Darlene Rose Reiman, a homemaker, and James F. Walz, a teacher and U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. Mr Walz spent a year teaching at the Foshan No 1 High School under a Harvard University volunteer programme. Walz's teaching background is a key part of his identity. He is an educator whose attitude is that of a great teacher: welcoming, inclusive, equitable and mindful of diversity. https://lnkd.in/gxH5Vk35 The two are the opposite spectrum of the polarized value system of the USA. Now, most USA citizens will identify with Tim and less with Vance. https://lnkd.in/gXQ_DygZ Leadership is a key part of governing and transforming conflicts. Let us hope the US citizens, mindful of the crucial times, choose well. https://lnkd.in/gdzjf9BE Peace is the best way to live! The symposium will start with a conversation about democracy at a national level and then turn to Texas-specific topics, including: • #voter turnout — and how to increase it • The local media landscape — and how it’s helping or hurting • How young Texans are making a difference — and changing the conversation • Governing Texas communities and the challenges that come with it — especially at the local level RSVP today: https://trib.it/HJX
