Time for a Short and Positive Textcast! Treat everyone as equal! Imagine this isn't Bolt, but your idol, your boss, your CEO, or someone important to you. Now, imagine you're one of those kids looking up to him. I have the pleasure of leading training at Woodward, Inc. about culture, specifically "Quality Culture into Action," where treating colleagues as equals is one of the key motivators. I consider this one of the most important principles. Fair treatment doesn't mean showing off or pretending to be something bigger. It's about justice and fair play every single day. Show your team they are valued, and remember, you are one of them — nothing more, nothing less. Leadership is influence and it starts with how you treat others.

In both personal and professional life, how you treat others speaks volumes about who you are. It’s not just about what you say or do, but how you make others feel. Showing respect, kindness, and empathy creates a positive environment where trust and cooperation can thrive. Whether you're at home, at work, or out in the world, your actions towards others reflect your values and character. You never know what someone else is going through, and a small act of kindness can make a world of difference. Listening, being considerate, and offering support when needed can strengthen relationships and create a lasting positive impact. Remember, people may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Treating others with respect is a reflection of your own self-respect and integrity.

Passion, “busyness” and expertise isn’t an excuse for rudeness. True professionals dont just throw around suggestions assuming they are always right. Kindness to others is a conscious decision, regardless if there are 50 things to do, but only time to do 30 of them. Do those 30 things graciously and with courtesy…and it’s likely others will help you accomplish the remaining 20. Rudeness will ensure you are doing all 50 by yourself. Hats off to those true professionals who are busy, but never too busy to be kind; who are experts, but never too knowledgeable to listen to others ideas (without eye rolling or huffing & puffing); and who are passionate, but never to the point of thinking they are the only ones who care. This clip demonstrates that those who choose to, even the best of the best, MAKE time to be kind and gracious even moments before a big event. Focus was never lost, passion was maintained, mission was always accomplished. Rudeness and Kindness are both a choice, not a byproduct.
