As the mining industry currently grapples with a significant skills gap the threat of draining the industry of critical knowledge, just when it's needed most, becomes greater. With nearly 50% of mining engineers expected to retire within the next decade, and enrolments in mining-related programs declining, the industry is facing pressing challenges. Mentorship and knowledge sharing are more crucial than ever to bridge this gap. By connecting seasoned veterans with the next generation of professionals, we can ensure that vital industry insights and skills are preserved and passed down. This collaborative approach not only addresses the immediate skills shortage but also fosters innovation and growth in the long term. To explore how technology can facilitate this intergenerational knowledge transfer and strengthen our industry's future, check out Torqn, a platform dedicated to connecting professionals in mining and construction. #Mentorship #KnowledgeSharing #Mining #Construction #SkillsGap #GenerationalKnowledge #IndustryGrowth #greytsunami

Chief Operating Officer @ Global Links | I Lead a team of heroes who are passionate about training professionals In Africa and beyond,
The Riskiest Gamble in Mining: Failing to Upskill Your Workforce Without a doubt, the most valuable asset in any mining company is its people. Yet, many companies gamble with their most precious resource by neglecting upskilling and training. At Global Links Corporate Training, we've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of investing in our personnel. Our training programs have demonstrably improved operational efficiency, safety, and overall mine performance. However, it's concerning to see other companies prioritizing short-term gains over long-term safety and growth. The "We Know" culture, characterized by arrogance, complacency, and resistance to learning, is arguably the biggest threat to any mine. It breeds ignorance, fosters critical errors, and puts lives at risk. Don't gamble with your company's future. Invest in your people. By providing them with the knowledge and skills they need, you empower them to: -Operate safely and effectively. -Identify and solve problems proactively. -Adapt to changing technologies and regulations. -Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation. Global Links Corporate Training is a leader in the training industry, offering a comprehensive range of programs tailored to the specific needs of the mining sector. We empower your workforce with the critical skills and knowledge they need to excel, mitigating risks, maximizing productivity, and driving sustainable success. Ready to unlock the full potential of your personnel? Contact us today on social media or visit our website to explore our training solutions. https://lnkd.in/dGxR98Qb

70% of those between the ages of 15 and 30 would not consider a career in mining. The worst of all industries surveyed, below even oil and gas. 46% of Gen-Z, individuals born between 1996 and 2012, that are currently working in the mining and energy sectors say that they plan to leave their jobs within two years. To cope with labour shortages, mining companies need to get serious about filling the talent pipeline. That means attracting Gen-Z, colloquially known as “Zoomers,” into the industry quickly. #miningnews #mining #canadianmining #miningtalent #miningrecruitment #hr #zoomers #GenZ #miningjobs #talentattraction #talent
