A little technical help: As Hurricane Milton approaches southwest Florida, an expansion of Apple's SOS safety feature in the iOS 18 update could help iPhone users who have models 14 and above send messages via satellite if cellular and Wi-Fi networks go down. The feature allows the user to send basic texts to emergency contacts and family members, but the sender and receiver must have iOS 18 installed. Once the update is installed, open the Settings app. Scroll down to "Apps," then navigate to "Messages." Find the "Satellite Connection Demo" option and tap on it. The satellite feature is also available for Google Pixel 9 owners. Navigate to "Settings," then "Safety and emergency," and then "Satellite SOS." Then tap on "Try a demo."

The Line Fire, impacting California's San Bernardino County, is threatening more than 36,300 structures, and evacuations are in place for at-risk communities. There was a bug in iOS 15 which caused the Share Password prompt to appear spontaneously, repetitively, and inexplicably. Recent experience (like, uh, today) suggests that the bug never really got fixed. That prompt appeared twice just now. This prompts a reminder to consider the Dead Bee Heuristic, named by James Bach. You’re camping, in a tent, and it’s dark. You hear a bee, and you’re startled. You thrash about in the dark, trying to get the bee. Then all goes silent, so it’s reasonable to believe that the bee is no longer a problem. And yet… You want evidence that the bee is actually no longer a problem. You want to know that the silence is not just a coincidence. You want to see the bee (or, eeew, parts of it) before you can be sure the bug is dead. You might also want to check the tent for ways in which the bee could have got in—like holes in the tent, or lack of sufficient attention while you’re entering or leaving. But that’s a different set of heuristics, for a different set of problems. For now, you want to see the bee. And that damned prompt just appeared again. Twice more.

How to download torrents on iOS Back in the days of jailbreaking, torrent downloaders could be easily downloaded from Cydia. Things have changed a bit now. You don't need to jailbreak anymore, just download one of the IPA installers. I won't attach links because these installers usually don't work for long and are harassed by Apple. However, if you're diligent about it, you can find apps like AppCake, AppValley, and other installers that worked on iOS 13. Then simply unzip the iTransmission torrent client file via this installer . Its functionality will be similar to the Android version. With its help, you will be able to install torrents by links and standard files, and the download speed will not differ from the desktop version of the same µTorrent. #redfishiaven #downloads #torrents
