Since building the first android phones at HTC I personally witnessed how the internet and mobile disrupted industries such as media, entertainment, and communications. The electric grid, since Edison, hasn’t changed for the past 100 years. I accept that this is a minor issue but in the world of BEVs there's some confusion sometimes about kWh and kW. They do get used incorrectly sometimes because they are so similar. Of course, kWh and kW are very accurate descriptions so it's difficult to argue against their use. But here's a my first suggestion of how we could use different terms for general use Energy Blocks (EB) for kWh: Definition: Energy Blocks measure the total amount of energy stored or used over time. Explanation: One EB represents the amount of energy used by a device drawing one kilowatt of power over one hour. Power Level (PL) for kW: Definition: Power Level measures the rate at which energy is being used or generated at a specific moment. Explanation: One PL represents the amount of power being used or generated at an instant in time. Using these terms, you can say, "My electric vehicle has a battery capacity of 50 EBs" (instead of 50 kWh) and "The charging station provides a maximum of 100 PLs" (instead of 100 kW). This distinction clearly indicates that Energy Blocks refer to total energy over time, while Power Level refers to instantaneous power. Am I mad? (there's no need to answer that!) Any other suggestions?
